703 and counting, also now 2nd in all time RBI's.

The drive gave Pujols 2,216 RBIs, which ranks second all time behind Hank Aaron's 2,297. Babe Ruth unofficially drove in 2,214 runs but many were not counted because the statistic was not recognized by baseball until 1920.

Pujols has 24 home runs this season and is one of four players in major league history with 700, joining Barry Bonds (762), Aaron (755) and Ruth (714).

Verlander fans 10 in 5 no hit innings as the Astros win 10 - 0. Staff took the no hitter into the 9th when Dusty went with Will Smith who I knew couldn't finish it off, and he didn't.

At 18 - 4 and a 1.75 era if he doesn't win the Cy Young something is wrong

Very Important information from my "Morning Brew" newsletter...need Buckeye T's expert financial analysis on this...plus I may be posting it in the wrong thread....

"As the baseball historians on the Brew’s social media team found, over the past 100 years the surest sign of an economic downturn has been a Philly-based baseball team winning the World Series. It happened in 1929, 1930, 1980, and 2008. On Monday night, the Phillies clinched a playoff spot for the upcoming postseason.

As Phillies fans, it gives us no pleasure to say this, but...they must be stopped. For the sake of the economy."

I'm comfortable that we're not in danger of the Phillies winning the World Series.

I was very excited to see that Frambler had a good outing today in the season ending win for the Astros. 106 win season!

Bill I think the Braves are playing very well at the right time of the season. I won't be surprised if they beat the Dodgers for the NLC.

No surprise, Dusty announced Verlander to start the opener in the ALDS series.

Verlander continues to be an enigma in the post season. For as dominant as he is in the regular season he's been less than that in his post season.

Cy Young season, then well rested last night he gets shelled by the Mariners. He's only 7-6 as an ASTRO in the post season.

Fortuneately the Astros offense got going and Yordan Alvarez hits the walk off 3 run Homer.

In an oddity we get a day off and then game 2 on Thursday.

Yordan does it again, not a walk off but it put us up 3-2 and we eventually win 4-2. The announcers say he's the first person in MLB history to hit a walk off winner and a go-ahead HR in the next game. Who the heck keeps track of stuff like that!!!:D

Astros up 2-0 and head to Seattle for game 3. Hard to imagine this team not winning 1 of the next 3 games.

    Bring on the Guardians!

My take, though my daughter would kill me for saying it, is that there is a much greater chance of an economic downturn than a Phillies world championship, soooo if they win out, the streak will likely continue

Stu do they breed these pests for the playoffs? :D

NEW YORK -- Their fans still bugged by what happened in 2007, the New York Yankees could face pesky midges again when the American League Division Series moves to Cleveland this weekend.

The flying insects memorably swarmed pitcher Joba Chamberlain during Game 2 of the 2007 Division Series at what was then called Jacobs Field. The bugs returned last weekend at nearby FirstEnergy Stadium for an NFL game between the Browns and Los Angeles Chargers.

I didn't watch because I was glued to college football, but what a win for the Astros. Rookie SS Jeremy Pena hit a home run deep to CF in the top of the 18th for the only run of the game.

Astros used 8 pitchers and Seattle used 10.

Phillies are through to the NLCS I really thought it would be Braves /Dodgers.

Cleveland beats the Yankees again and lead 2-1. Could it happen?
