Astros put another pitcher, Lance McCullers, on IR. Verlander threw off the mound recently, hope is he will be back for the playoffs. Astros got swept by the Angels, and now face the A's and Dodgers. Could be coming home on a big losing streak.

Who had Tampa Bay as the best team in the AL?

Astros head to Dodger Stadium today, I expect an epic beat down ..Dodgers having a great season and Astros are just in complete disarray, pitching, hitting all just awful.

Also I see that MLB is going to use some variation of the bubble that the NBA and NHL have used for the playoffs.

The Dodgers are easily a better team than the Astros, but they don't have a closer. I turned the game off when they put Jansen in the game and my wife asked why. I told her that I didn't want to see it. I knew it was going to happen, and it did. They need to stop bullshitting and trade for a real closer.

Maybe you can talk the Yankees out of Chapman for a couple of prospects. Caveat emptor! He apparently **** his pants the other day throwing a pitch.

I can relate. My oldest found our BB gloves and wanted to play catch the other day. I'm only 55, but when I tried to launch my 4 seamer....

Yankees and Astros were pre-season predictions as the top 2 teams in the AL. Instead the Astros are struggling and will barely make the playoffs in the 8th slot. Yankees are sitting in 3rd in the AL East.

Pretty Shocked to get up this morning to find that we actually beat the Dodgers.

Something that has never happened before in baseball history. Both the Cubs and the White Sox have had pitchers throw a no hitter this year now with Mills gem today vs the Brewers.

Only 2 no hitters have been thrown at Miller Park, both by Cubbies. The first was by Carlos Zambrano against the Astros when the game moved to MKE from Houston due to a hurricane.

    Hey AJ,

Eh, between an ongoing cancer situation, a right knee that is worthy of belonging on an NFL FB that played in the 70s and some weird skin infection I got that almost killed me, I've been busy. Miserable mostly. I just figured without sports, no one wanted to hear my bitching and I wouldn't contribute anything so I was sitting it out. I did pop in like once to catch up a few months ago.

    Bobda,

Thank you. I got up today so it's all up from there.

Well Justin Verlander will have Tommy John surgery. He tried to rehab but it didn't work out. He's 37 years old, that means he has to miss 2021 season and he will be 39 in Feb 2022 when Spring training opens up.

He said that he's not done yet and expects to come back strong and pitch into his 40's. We'll see. Not sure where we are with his contract.

Season coming to a close. Astros are likely to be the 8th team in the AL playoffs. Because of the seeding rules they will end up being the 6th seed in the playoffs.

NL isn't quite as set with only 4 teams right now locked up in the playoffs.

Pulling for the Marlins to make it. At one point they were the number 5 seed but have to end the season with 4 games against Atlanta, won 1, and 3 against the Yankees. They are still in at this point.

Cleveland got three hits from three consecutive pinch hitters (in the ninth, to win in a walk-off) last night. The last time the Tribe had three consecutive pinch hits was in 1974 at the infamous "Ten Cent Beer Night" where we had to forfeit the game due to unruly behavior of the fans (also in the ninth).

So what has changed with pitchers? Is it the sheer velocity they throw at ? These guys break down like cheap toys.

Astros backed into the playoffs, they lost another 1 run game, another blown save late or extra inning loss. We are 10-14 in 1 run games, 9-21 on the road. Last night we were 1 strike away from clinching the playoff slot with a win, instead our veteran reliever gives up a bomb and we go to extra innings to lose.

However our friends the Dodgers bailed us out by beating the Angles 9-5 and cementing our finishing 2nd to the A's and we'll be the #6 seed in the playoffs.

Right now it looks like we'll be in the friendly confines of Dodger Stadium for the ALDS vs the Twins, but that could change.

It seems odd to me that the ALDS will be in San Diego and LA while the NLDS will be in Houston and Arlington.
