No GOP blog would dare to compare the above data table from Jan. 2001 with Jan 2009.... 8)

An eight year slide ain't pretty......and even harder to reverse.

Enough already with what happened prior to his election, he can try and run on that and well may, but the question that he and his supporters will have to address a some point is, how effective have your leadership and policy initiatives been at addressing the massive issues facing our country? That is the question he will have to answer.....he and his comrades have shown vastly more interest in campaigning for office than they have in executing the responsibilities of the office and so his record in that regard is not a good one......leadership? There has been none.....

For once.....you and I agree 100% on something.

That said however.....the ace in the hole for the Democrats will be to compare any GOP nominee's policies with those of George Bush.

Moderates in this coming election....who are the deciding votes.....have a long memory.....many were financially disabled by the 8 years of Bush......and do not wish a simple return to his policies.

If you think anyone but the most ardent lefties are blaming this debacle on Bush any longer then you need to put down the pipe.

Obama's re-election depends on how many entitlement lifers and illegals he can get to the polls.

I would suggest to them to put forth effective policies to address the massive issues we have confronting us......remember "it's about the economy stupid" and by November 2012, he's going to have to have something to show for himself......and at present, he has nothing and doesn't appear to be willing to do anything but campaign and blame his predecessor....that is his resume and I'm just not sure that those are the qualities that are going to compel people to vote for......I want a President capable of leading a team to develop effective policy initiatives and address the issues, not a candidate. I suspect the alot of the electorate feels as I do......he better hurry, because it's going the wrong way

Where were you in 2008.......living under a rock?

In any event BT is correct in that by election time people are going to want to know what is being done right now rather than just blaming Bush.

However......the legacy of our economic troubles goes much farther back than Jan. 2009 and only the most ardent right-wing lemmings can't seem to remember it.

Only that bloc of voters doesn't care if Kermit the Frog is the GOP nominee they are voting for him anyway.

Kermit has more common sense and a higher IQ than Obama.

Some economic trends in August of 2008:

    http://www.americanprogress.org/issues/2008/08/econ_snapshot.html

That Great Recession locomotive was at full steam ahead and gaining speed.

The above link lists data and trends in the U.S. one month before the failure of Lehman Brothers in Sept. of 2008 in a time period that would see the mortgage and investment banking industry implode.....taking the Dow Jones along with it.....and tightening credit to the point where companies like GM and Chrysler saw bankruptcy looming in their near future and sending MCG packing to Florida at half-price.

    Now.......remember just a little better?

It's irrelevant now.....the question is what have you done and what do you propose to do to address the issues facing the country. His experience to lead was non-existent, his response has been inadequate and compelling need to campaign makes him and his party unwilling to face the problems.....that is not a track record worthy of another term.

Why do you want him to continue in the position for which he was unqualified to begin?

W was governor of Texas........was he qualified?

Why would you want more of the same.......that's all I'm saying.

I am willing to look at change.......real change but I am terrified to think that far rightwingers don't really care about that and that there are not enough moderate thinkers on the right to come up with good alternatives.

I do not trust "far" anything......right or left and I absolutely do not want those kinds of people imposing their will on me.

Governor is an executive position. Obama never held any such position at any level.

You're not really that out of touch, are you?

    It's irrelevant....you're getting distracted.

Let's focus.....we have a man in office today whose track record is poor, zero political courage and willingness to lead is non-existent. The question, what has he done to deserve to continue in the job? What accomplishments can you describe for us that would make him worthy of the peoples confidence as chief executive?

In response to that I don't think the GOP will get over his willingness to set the wheels in motion to swoop in and assassinate Bin Laden right under the Pakastani's nose.

The Credit reform act is one that I think the majority of Americans can indentify with and approve of.

Those not in need of credit are the ones out of touch on this one.

Excellent....in the meantime, the Chi-coms are licking their chops as the U.S. gets down on bended knee begging for additional financing as our private sector economy gets buried in the resources necessary to service public sector debt. Well done....that will be his legacy.
