Oh, and btw, I can change a AR mag in less than 3 seconds with almost zero time off target. One in chamber from 10 round mag. Fire none rounds. Drop mag and insert another while still having the ability to take out a bad guy with the remaining round even without a mag in the gun. 30 round mags are not a great advantage. Three ten rounders are easier to conceal on my person than a thirty round mag.

    Dave,

I want you to answer this one question: Drunk drivers kill more Americans than guns do. Why are you not out supporting bringing back prohibition?

Punish law abiding citizens. Take away their alcohol before they kill someone... Take away their cars before they kill someone... pass a law... take away liberties from law abiding citizens... pass a law... Dangit I am so tired of liberal f&*#s that want to legislate us into being Great Brittan.

    Good point.

But it when it comes to civil liberties it is a police state everywhere these days when it comes to DUI. I think any of us who do imbibe deal with the stress and concern, change of plans/drivers when even small amounts of alcohol are consumed and a car is involved.

It's catch 22 as we all appreciate the fact drunk drivers ( the real ones ) are being kept off the road but at the same time we are paranoid of driving any where after drinking one or two drinks.

Like the crazies who will find ways......the lethal drunk drivers really don't get held back by DUIs.

Another example of how "Pass a law" solutions don't work. When the crazies want something, they will get it. Keeping me from having it when I would be responsible with it is not the answer.

And another thought... I have scraped people up off the road because of drunk drivers with no record. I have held the hand of a girl as she took her last breath on I-35 just south of Dallas/Ft Worth because her boyfriend was driving under the influence. He was not legally drunk. He blew a 0.07. Tell me his falling asleep at the wheel was not influenced by that 0.07.

I have experienced this kind of devistation but you don't hear me preaching prohibition. You'll see/hear me raise hell with someone that tries to get behind the wheel after drinking one or two.

Alcohol will never touch my lips when driving or carrying a gun is involved. Not everyone can honestly make that statement. I can. I don't preach: do as I say, not as I do. I live the example when it comes to intoxicants. 0.01 is too much!

    Jif,

My father was a policeman in Miami for 30 plus years and never fired his gun and was never shot at by a gun. He did average one fight every day for the duration of his career with many knives being involved in those. He always said that a car driven by a person with intent to harm another was by far the most dangerous weapon out there. If you were to ask most policemen what their thoughts are of the public's ability to carry a gun they would surprise you with a strong agreement in the right to bear arms.

My brother in law is approaching 25 years as a Coral Gables policeman pretty much has had the identical career with no gun incidents. My sister carries a 38 cal in her purse at all times on the insistence of her policeman husband.

    JIF,

The US population is over 312,000,000 (not counting illegals). Including the initial event, you have given one more event making 2 events of people using guns to kill innocents. That means that 99.9999999% of the people didn't do that.

I'm sure there are more gun deaths than the ones reported here. However, you and Dave tend to harp on a miniscule figure while people are dying at an alarming rate from other factors. 2,500,000 people die every year. These two deaths are 0.0000004% of the annual death rate.

I am not trying to trivialize these deaths. There are just way to many elephants in the room to worry about the one mouse.
