Yes they did and in that sense they have done well, however our whole offense (almost) returned and they haven't done well. We can't run up the middle and like Corey said we do almost nothing to stretch the defense vertically. We shall see. We may win but we may have to score 45 points to do it.
With the exception of Dre pulling down everyone in the backfield when he doesn't need to, the defense isn't the reason Alabama is losing. It's their offense.. and one telling thing to me is that they can score at will when they need to.. they can go vertical.. they always close that 2 score gap.. Why aren't they doing this all game? Instead, they play within a 5 yard box of the LOS and teams are stacking up against this. I hope Julio Inc. are stretching out their hammies because Auburn's secondary is atrocious and I have a feeling that Alabama is going to go vertical early and often in this game...
I agree with CFN on this one......the Tar Beagles are cooked. What Will Happen: Auburn has played three road games this year, beating both Mississippi State and Kentucky by three, and blowing away Ole Miss. That’s it. The Tigers are about to run into a buzzsaw as Alabama will keep Newton and the ground game in check, while a balanced Tide effort will move the ball at will. Ingram will run for 100 yards, McElroy will be brutally efficient converting third down after third down, and the national title chase is about to take a stunning and decisive twist. Boise State and TCU, you’re going to get your wish. CFN Prediction: Alabama 31 … Auburn 17 … Line: Alabama -4.5
TCU has a better shot than Boise to make the game because of computers. Corey never thinks the SEC should win, s what's new? LSU is not out of the running. Neither is Ohio State. I am rooting for either Auburn to go all the way or for one of TCU and Boise to make it to the final against Oregon. Like MCG I want to see how those teams perform against a fully motivated opponent.
Not at all.....we just don't believe that what happened last year has any bearing on the quality of your football team this year so the notion that you should benefit from what happened to somebody else last year is even more removed from rational.......it's absurd. ask Texas, ask Florida, ask Tiger Woods...there is no reason, there is no logic. It's bizarrely anti-competitive and serves to unjustly reward/penalize in a manner that is not necessarily consistent with on the field results in the current year.....which I believe is the intent of determining a champion. It's great system.....in your view, college basketball would crown a champion by having an end of season popularity contest selecting an opponent to face the ACC Champion....the winner is the national champion.
College BB does take into account a conference's and team's past performances in the tourney with regard to invitations and seedings.
However, in contrast, there is an interest in basketball in determing a representative champion based upon competition so typically they invite more than 2.
I just don't buy it Bill.....given their is only a universe of two and the selection of the two is filled with bias to begin, that argument carries little weight imo....what has happened last year is really irrelevant to this year. Tiger Woods is not in the running for player of the year, Texas and Florida have no credibility in the discussion this year altho based upon past performance they would be front and center.....if Auburn were to lose, there is not another SEC team that has any credibility to be involved in the discussion over and above several others based upon what has happened on the field this year.....imo.
You don't have to buy it BT, but in my opinion that kind of a winning streak brings credibility to the SEC. Go SEC.
The SEC has much credibilty, but if Auburn goes down, just none relevant to the "championship" discussion in the current year in my opinion.
I would agree with that BT with the qualifier that I don't think LSU is completely out if Auburn loses.
I have to agree with that BT. In fact I don't want to see that happen. I think that if you are going to play in the Championship game under the current circumstances you need to win your Conference. [/i]
Back to Alabama vs Auburn, nobody mentioned this but Greg McElroy was a finalist for a Rhodes scholarship however he did not get one but he was selected as the ESPN Scholar-Athlete of the Year. Just a little feel good news for the Tide. Here's hoping tomorrow's game is a good one.
OK kp, the West turns its lonely eyes toward Alabama. Everyone out here is cheering for your team in the Iron Bowl. It simplifies everything, puts Stanford in a BCS game; puts either Boise or TCU in the finals against Oregon and generally solves all our problems. So let's ..............ROLL TIDE!
JO'Co< Hell yeah! Roll Tide, about 7 hours til kickoff and I am ready. My brother in law (an Auburn fan) was here yesterday for Thanksgiving and we almost got into a cussing match on the back porch. IT'S TIME FOR THE ALABAMA/AUBURN GAME!!!!!!
