Yeah I thought of you when in the end he wouldn't cover it all up...rather die than bury the truth. Where as the others said live and let live!
Spurrier's worst team and definitely worst defense in his time at Fla was his '99 team......and two of those "great" Bama wins were in that season. In 2005....Urban's first year and ultimately his worst so far at Fla ( Outback Bowl ) he took his first Gator team to Bama and lost soundly. This year was the only quality Gator team in the last 10 years to lose to Bama and in '92.....Spurrier's next to worst team lost to eventual national champion Bama in the SECCG by one TD. I guess if you call that "owning" then have at it.
yes Dave... a 4-2 record with 3 blowout wins, and 2 in the SEC title games but how did I know you'd have a way to diminish them? The winning coach(es) for Alabama in 3 of those games were Mike Shula and Mike DuBose whereas you were led by the legendary Steve Spurrier and Urban Meyer. Of course, you forgot that too.
Just pointing out that Bama managed to beat UF's worst teams of the last 19 years....as evidenced by the fact that Bama's worst coaches turned the trick as you so correctly pointed out. Thanks.
Understand Kp I was referring to the two losses in '99 and Urban's first Fla team in which he had not figured out how to mesh his offensive style with the talent on hand.....in particular Chris Leak. You beat a great Florida team this year in Atlanta.
yessem mazzabill Actually you guys might have DLed that song I posted earlier, there's now a video for it <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/AVRCKWm4stE&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/AVRCKWm4stE&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
Ok, I'm weighing in here, on Kp's side. I was at the 40 - 39 loss and it was a good game. However the Gators had it won until our punt receiver dropped the punt deep in our territory when we led by 7 points and could have run out the clock. We could not stop the Alabama runner that day, especially after that punt and then in OT. In OT our kicker missed the extra point and we lost. Then in Atlanta, as I recall we drove the ball first and scored and then were held scoreless the rest of the way, and yes our defense had a lot of trouble stopping people that day. However when you score 7 points you can hardly blame your defense. I would also invite Corey to check what had happened in the rest of the games between Florida and Bama in the 90's. This was a funny topic that AJ started and to turn it into a bickering contest about the Gators sucks. I made my original post thinking it might be funny following the format AJ laid out and it was taken wrong so with that and the way the topic has been hijacked I'll take my leave.
Bill, If you don't think that 99 team was Spurrier's worst name me a worse one. They gave up over 100 points over their last three games. They sucked.
Whether it was worst or not is not an issue with me in the discussion. However I think it was much better than the 92 team. However none of Spurrier's teams were bad. That's the end of this conversation with me.
Bill just pointing out the shallowness of the above statement by Corey. In that time UF has won 2 National Championships to Bama's one and 3 SEC Championships to Bama's 2. In addition to the above how about we say in this past decade and in this century it is all tied up 2-2 between Bama and UF with UF "owning" more championships as described above except Bama has won only one SEC Championship in this century. I guess we'll have to see who has the winning edge this coming decade. 8) .
Gators are the Greatest Football program in the history of the 21st Century!! Feel better Dave!
Terry...you need to re-read Corey's post. I am not bragging about Florida....I am just injecting a little reality into Corey's "owning" comments.
I was joining in the jokes when it was Bill who dropped: I had just declared how the king returned and...he wanted to touch on the subject, so we'll take a peek.. And guess what, the numbers in that peek dont support your position. 4-2 in the past 10 years (remember it is YOU who only wants to talk 'recent history'') and in 3 of those 4 games, you got your ass kicked. You, of course, have an excuse for the 'might' Florida Gators getting their ass kicked... food poisoning, one player out to a DUI, herpeghonnasyphllaids or whatever the hell your reason of the day for avoiding the reality of the situation is.... Both Bill and I have tried to move on past this and again, it is you who won't let the point go and continue to assign blame.
Corey...I'm talking about this past decade....and this century.....not the 1900s. Seems about as relevant a point to me as holding up two losses to an average at best '99 Florida team as some kind of dominant proof.....and Kp can laugh all he wants about that one I guess. The fact remains.....in this century...recent history if you will....it's a 2-2 count on W-L... and Fla leads 3-1 and 2-1 in SEC and national championships. If Bama is going to be dominant over UF then no doubt in my mind they will the next two games.....not split them and God forbid they lose them both.
