In the same link...Irish beaches are rated #1 in the UK for nudist beaches.........you naughty little Catholics....
Already got my tickets for Ireland in Sept. Come to think of it, might as well go to the football game too.
Wrong, BT. I chose Bill's comment only to express my opinion on this catfight, but in no way does that imply that I'm siding with him. My comment was directed to both sides. You guys are giving me a headache. Gip, I was going to bring my swimsuit to Ireland, but I guess I'll leave it at home. Actually, my presence on a nude beach would lead to a ban on nudity.
Sid, my comments were not directed at you.....you have always been one of our most objective, fair-minded, calm and well-reasoned voices on the forums.
Please cite the entry that was rude, sarcastic, and non-productive. BT, I was having an exchange with Terry about a name that he used to reference the Alabama coach that I didn't appreciate. I have learned to not try to engage in a rational discussion with you. I messed up and got drawn into one. It won't happen again.
Still sidin' w BT on this one, boys...time to clean up the joint. <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/6Ii4MKQFsks" frameborder="0"></iframe>
OK, KP, I'll play your silly game with you....here is your the initial post in our exchange.....O'Keefe began a topic on oversigning and it's impact on kids, there was a reference - not made by me - about Saban's name rhyming with Satan, others expressed their views on Saban, I debate with Bill the fact that even with their more restrictive policies, SEC teams can still oversign and gain advantage (25 x 4 > 85) and you offer this gem..... I'll bite, perhaps you can tell me what your intent was if it was not rude and sarcastic and how it might be a productive contribution to the thread - (the silly little laughing head was your inclusion by the way)....it had absolutely nothing to do with engaging in a rational discussion, it was a shot solely intended to inflame and one that would have made Gonzo himself proud...... Hope that helps refresh your memory and if that is an example of how you engage in rational discussion, I and most rational, post-adolescent people will take a pass
Ralph, that is not what I was trying to say, and if it came across that way I apologize. "Attacked" is a strong word and I did not use it. I said that BT was being ganged up on...referring to his being outnumbered. He did not bring up the topic...he did not bring up Saban...he did not bring up oversigning...he did not bring up the SEC policys...he did not bring up OSU...he did not bring up Tressel...he did not do the hit and run act of starting up a topic then disappearing. Yet he apparently is the bad guy here.
So this is a perfect time to ask when do we start planning for 2nd quad-annual Skybox reunion?...... Anbody?......Bueller......Ferris?.......
Stu, I have a rather lengthy post on hold and am still deciding whether to post it or not. Probably not. However let me say this, if reading through this whole topic you can't understand why kp was upset then I am baffled. If you cannot that the way BT stakes out his position and doesn't listen much to the other guy I am baffled. As to over signing I will only comment that the SEC rules are now more stringent than the NCAA yet some want to continue the drumbeat. You might want to read this Wikipeda blurb on over signing and even note that Ohio State an incident at the bottom of the article. Over Signing According To Wikipedia There are no bad guys here, but we might all think a bit more about the other guys position, feelings, circumstances, before we post derogatory posts about their favorite team
Bill, I read the young man's opinion and I have no doubt that he was told he wouldn't play and maybe he'd be better off somewhere else.....however, the empirical evidence - if you're interested in empirical evidence - would indicate that oversigning was not the issue. The conference rules are such that you can never have greater than 3 over the 85 limit and those cases must be approved individually by the league along with a road map of why, how and when you get back to 85. In Tressel's tenure, only once was there ever a 4 year period wherein he signed greater than 80 kids - 82 - and never in excess of 85. His average class during his time was 20....tying him with ND as the 5th lowest in FBS football. Only Ga Tech, Wake Forest, Stanford and Northwestern signed fewer. Indeed one of the hallmarks of Tressel's tenure was keeping a couple of schollies available and rewarding them to hard working walk-ons. There are no doubt a number of reasons that people can and do take shots at Tressel and OSU, but oversigning recruits is not one of them...... Bill, it would be instructive if you could show us where I singled out KP or his school for attack prior to his shot referencing Tressel?
Sure I understand why KP was upset...this whole thing started out as a criticism of his coach and his school...but if you don't understand that BT didn't bring up the topic and didn't start the criticism of Alabama and Saban...and that KP is the one who brought up Tressel...then I'm baffled. There is a lot of that going on around here...and it isn't just BT. BT has given credit to the SEC for tightening the rules...he had given credit to your university and your president for their stance. He has been very consistent that he wishes that the NCAA would have a tougher standard for everybody. What baffles me is NOT that you disagree with that...it's cool... but how rankled you seem to get that he maintains that position. Hey, each to his own. I'll say it one more time, and then I am done with this topic (unless that post you have on hold is too upsetting ) ...He is a big boy and can defend himself...but BT gets into these things because he is not one to back down...he has not been an instigator of trouble on this board.
Stu, for the record let me tell you that if things were expressed the way you express them I would not get rankled. That's about all I have to say.
Let me just say that in retrospect my comments on Saban earlier in this topic should have been saved for another discussion and kp had every right to question why Ralph was coming out of left field with comments. I enjoy the mature discussion and debates we have on Skybox and will try to keep my personal feelings more relative to the topic. It was a great picture though!!!
You know what, this is not enjoyable any longer and I'mafraid when my school is unfairly (in my opinion) attacked, I will respond. I think it's time for a Skybox hiatus. 8)
