    What I mean by Vandy "relaxing" it's standards to meet Florida's is that the SEC needs to find a consistent middle ground and get everyone on it.

    I am not suggesting that Florida for the reason they are Florida should be the standard for the SEC.
    I think Vandy is too tough a standard most likely and other SEC schools.....well.....maybe we should go with Florida's... :wink:

    The concept isn't that hard to grasp unless of course maybe you didn't graduate from Vandy....or Florida.

    Sorry....but the missiles tend to get returned to sender....

    ...On the other hand....maybe Bill is right in asking what in the world would I have to complain about...

    http://rivals100.rivals.com/teamrank.asp?SID=880

    That's a #3 ranking before today's commitment of 5 star DL Omar Hunter out of Georgia....

    I see a #2 ranking on the near horizon and with a couple of other top players yet to be decided it might be another #1 class for Urbs...

    The SEC did that MCG. They set standards that are above that which the NCAA determined to be the minimum standard.

    If YOU believe that Florida should control what every other SEC University does, which isn't going to happen, then maybe you should suggest that Florida remove itself from such a deficient organization and become an independent. Surely you don't want to be associated with such underlings. :roll:

    Has anyone checked to see if MCG and TB are posting from the same IP address?

    Tom,

    Consider how you might feel if Florida kept picking up players that were deflected away from Tenn because Tenn had tougher academic requirements.

    I don't think you would so readily agree the SEC had it right.

    MCG, that is strictly Bulls**t. The Gators could wait to see if some of these guys might qualify but we choose to eliminate them early and move on to other players.

    If Tennessee or anyone else chooses another strategy I don't see where you have any complaint at all.

    Your other post tonight should say it all to you, we were ranked the number one class last year and number two the year before and are headed for a top 5 ranking again this year. Yet you choose to whine and complain about one or so players that Tennessee might get that we may have wanted.

    Nonsense, many times it's our choice to not pursue the issue longer.

    Geez you need to learn when to give up or as a couple of other people say here you make yourself seem mean spirited.

    I hope you do not want that.

    You could give some people all the money in the world and they would complain that it's not gold. These people live to annoy and are never happy.
    But I'm not trying to start an argument :lol: :wink:

    Ok enough is enough. This topic is about a Tennessee player, Dee Morley not about complaints as to what players can't get into Florida so let's get it back on topic.

    Here's Tom's original post
    Comments that are not about Dee Morley or any other player in the article will be deleted.

    If someone wants to discuss any aspects of recruiting fairness or unfairness, start another topic, don't use this one.

    Like I said, if you want to discuss anything else about the recruiting process start another topic.

    I commented way above how much I support Morley and sincerely hope he is successful and I think there is a good chance he will be. If so I expect to see him playing in the NFL because he has that kind of talent.

    However there are two other players mentioned in that article, one V. Richards that has been in Tennessee and worked his way into the playing on the offensive line.

    The third player is Gerald Williams who came from the High School in Ft. Lauderdale where my kids graduated, Boyd Anderson.

    Gerald Williams also attended the school I mentioned with Morley it was University High in Miami Florida, a diploma mill. Morley and Williams both did what a lot of us might do as 17/18 years old, they didn't do well in High School, but this place would put you through and give you a diploma with minimal effort. Even though it was probably a bad choice it's one that a lot of other football players in that area took and used to get into college. However they were exposed and both players paid a price for going there. Morley in his college work and Williams by not being able to get accepted once the school was exposed.

    That would have been the end for a lot of people, however both these guys wanted football bad enough to pull themselves up by their bootstraps and put themselves in a position to be successful.

    Morley is apparently back in school and it looks like Williams may make it this time.

    Gerald Williams

    It's to early to say that these two guys will be successful, but both of them have been willing to do what it takes, and it wasn't easy, to put themselves in a position to succeed.

    Whether we are Tennessee fans or not I think we can celebrate the effort these two have put forth and wish them well and pull for them to succeed.

    Thanks Tom for posting that article.

    Going back to my first post under this topic where I said amen to second chances, I want to re-emphasize what an admirable accomplishment it is for the Morley kid to take full advantage of his second chance to regain his academic eligibility and get back into school and back on the team. This is the kind of kid I can - and will - root for.

    I call BS

    <t>First of all, hello to all. It's been a while. I hope everyone is doing well.<br/>
    <br/>
    Second, some things never change including a lot of Florida BS. On Travis Henry, Florida tried very hard to get back in on him and DID OFFER Travis when it became apparant he was getting closer to qulafying academically but he said thanks but no thanks. He was going to Tennessee because they had stuck with him from the beginning. I posted an article from a Florida newspaper at the time that quoted him and confirmed the offer. That shut the Florida people up at the time but I guess their selective memory has returned. If I still have it on a old computer, I'll re-post it.<br/>
    <br/>
    On Dee Morley and Gerald Williams, there's a lot of BS on this one as well. They were one time Florida committments but changed their minds when they visited Tenn. I actually got to know Morely during his year off while he was working at Calhouns (he's a really good kid by the way). I asked him personally about this and specifically if Florida rescinded their offer to both. He laughed and said no way. The Florida coaches were very upset when they changed their minds and tried hard to get them to stay committed and sign with the Gators. He said there's no way he wasn't going to be admitted at Florida. <br/>
    <br/>
    In short, this Florida higher academic standards crap is just that, pure crap. Sorry to burst their bubble. Later.</t>

    First Jeff it's great to hear from you I wish you were around more.

    However I think that if you would have read this line you didn't really say anything about Florida that I didn't bring up in counter to some of MCG's posts.

    Also I said this topic was going to be treated as Tom meant, a feel good topic about Morley and I even added information about Williams.

    The Florida stuff as you say is basically what MCG said and I countered to a great degree.

    I'm going to leave your post, but since no one really wants to comment any more about the topic as Tom meant it, I am also locking this topic.

    I sincerely mean it when I say I wish you would come back and post more, but this topic has run it's course.
