Not much of a NFL fan these days, but I always hate it when injuries cut short a promising career. Only 29 years old. Best of luck to him. Andrew Luck retirement: Here's hoping he finds peace and fulfillment in whatever is next to come
It's a shame that injuries have taken all the fun out of the game for him. I don't really blame him though, he's a sharp young man and has his Stanford Degree so he'll do well. Plus while I don't know exactly how much he's made playing in the NFL, he seems like the type who hasn't done crazy stuff with his money and probably has 40 - 50 million in net worth. I saw where the Colts have said they are not going to ask him to pay/give back part of his "guaranteed" money that these players get up front with their contracts. So he's solid. Not sure what the future holds for him, but I think he'll be OK.
I think you are right about Luck and his financial situation. However I do remember the Miami QB who lead their first NC, Bernie Kosar. He graduated early and went to the Cleveland Browns where he was their starter for a pretty long time. He had the reputation of being good with his money but sometime after his retirement he lost it all in a bad investment. Keep it invested in the market and with that kind of money he won't ever go broke. I wish him the best and kind of imagine we see him on ESPN or something similar.
I’m hearing the Colts honored him with $24.5 million even though they didn’t have to under contract, Kudos...That being said he is supposedly worth $100 million. More than this farmer and more power to him.
Sorry to see him leaving football. The Colts drafted a real good OG out of ND Quenton Nelson but it looks like it was too little too late. You always wonder about how big time pros handle their finances. A few years ago Calvin Johnson retired from the Lions. From what I'd read about him, he lived modestly in an Atlanta apartment in the off season. He was a bright guy that made a lot of money playing football. I bet he's living comfortably in his "retirement."
I hope Luck does better than Bernie Kosar who also made a lot of money and seemingly was the type who would have been smart with his money. Instead he made a lot of bad financial decisions and ended up broke.
Certainly have been more than a few high profile athletes who made a lot of money and got swindled by their advisers or blew it all on their family and supposed friends who begged, borrowed or stole everything they could. Big lavish homes, cars, girls, parties, drugs, etc. I don't think Luck is in that category and his dad is a rock solid business type who has had a fair amount of success on his own, Oliver Luck. So doubtful Andrew has a family that is stealing from him. It will be interesting to see where he goes from here, he's sort of the opposite personality type from Peyton Manning who we all see everywhere we look on TV.
