Right, Lehman, Bear Stearns, AIG, et al and the owners of some 300+ banks that failed and wiped out the entirety of their investment can speak to the benefits of being thusly enriched......
Again....this is what I have accepted and I stated so in my topic post. I allude to the six years of Bush/GOP rule so often because equally often it seems those years are just conveniently forgotten here on this board with regard to the timeline of when the housing market was sowing the seeds of it's own disaster.
Sure thing.....and then come the series of posts that suggest that Bush was in "cahoots" with the banks and encouraged the behaviors and activities that led to the crises......so forgive me if I'm just a little bit skeptical.
Just as reasonable a slur BT as what has been thrown against Obama with regard to his progress or lack thereof in fixing the huge problem handed to him by the previous admin. In other words.....no one party is responsible for the mortgage and housing crisis and both parties should accept that and try to work together to solve the problem. There is such childishness and one upsmanship going on in today's political world and also amongst the political followers of both partys that an effective cohesive unit working together to solve any issue seems like an unachievable dream. Round and round we go. Then you have guys like Rick Scott here in Florida who was elected Gov. by the slimmest of margins and he has worked extremely hard to alienate all of the Dem side and also even more moderate members of his own GOP party. He won by < 1% of the vote and yet he is ramrodding his particular brand of B/S down everyone's throat.....like it or not. He is probably going to go down as the most hated governor ever in this state if he doesn't get impeached before he is done.
Perhaps what we need more than anything else at the moment is a leader with the political courage address the difficult problems rather than running for re-election......that is after all why he is there. People are not taking shots, they are calling for help! Where is the Chief Executive when we need him? Simple question......
....needlessly wasting his and our time digging through his files for his damned birth certificate when there's terrorists to kill.....and a housing crisis to resolve. 8)
You don't really believe that he spent a bunch of time digging through his records for it do you? Surely when he decided he'd produce it some minion was tasked with that. How long would it take you to get your state (Fla?) to agree to send you your birth certificate? The last time I needed one from Michigan, I did it online and it didn't take me long, in a few weeks one showed up from Mich. So hopefully he's at least as skilled as I am at doing this sort of thing.
I assure you he has spent vastly more time glad handing donors at fund raisers than he has on any other single thing on his agenda.....again it's about leadership and he's not leading. He's stumbling into his third effort at developing a budget to allocate the finite resources of the federal government. His first effort was out-sourced to a Pelosi/Reid led cabal specializing in earmarks and pork that produced a bloating of virtually every agency of the federal government that they called "stimulus". His second effort came on the heels of a bi-partisan commission that he authorized to address the massive structural budget deficits so ridiculously unsustainable that the IMF compared us unfavorably to several of the Euro-style social democracies and led Standard and Poor's to put us on the negative watch list for our credit outlook - for the first time in our history. His budget response was to ignore any recommendations not wanting to tackle any meaningful political issues prior to the mid-term elections....... He is due plenty of criticism for his lack of leadership on these issues, nor should that surprise anybody because the man didn't have a shred of executive leadership experience in his background and as such was ill-prepared to be the chief executive of the largest enterprise the world has ever known.....but give the man a teleprompter and TV camera and he can be the leader of the free world.
Meant to be tongue-n-cheek Terry. Just the fact he had to answer to the B/S and take the time to go on TV....etc.....etc....to answer to bush league politicos who bordered on being racists is ridiculous and provides the answer BT was looking for with regard to Obama's "time" spent....etc.
Black unemployment is now the highest ever recorded and the feds have kept those stats since 1972. How did George W. Bush do that? http://www.allword-news.co.uk/2011/05/09/black-unemployment-and-the-great-black-disconnect-from-obama/ :?:
I would guess all minority unemployment is running very high and that includes women as well. Who is the first to be hired......the white male or the black female? Just the way it works.
When it happens in Bush's term it's his fault. When it happens on yours it's "just the way it works."
