    Bill,

De nada, you made a very good point regarding that. We are using our established value set of 'what makes a legit NC contender' that is based (in large part) on a college football world that doesn't exist anymore. Ohio State, Notre Dame, Michigan, Alabama etc could go out and sign 100+ kids and drain entire regions of the country for their football talent. They could literally take a kid for the sole intention of NOT letting the competition get the kid.

    We can't do that anymore.

As for ND's 'redshirt' policy.. They do and don't. You don't have a real 'redshirt' program. You complete your 4 years and then you can petition the University for a 5th year. Leave it to the Catholic school to utilize process over practicality :)

I find the practice disingenuous at best. When we're playing a 3star career backup late in the year due to an injury while we have a 5star on the bench... we're doing the same thing that everyone else does in preserving the year of eligibility.. we just have a different process of going about it.

I cant think of a 5th year candidate that was shot down by the school, but perhaps it has happened.

I don't think the redshirts are as important as they used to me. You are lucky if the best players stay for all five years so you might as well use them in their freshman year.

Offensive linemen seem to be somewhat of an exception.

It used to be almost the whole class would redshirt, but no more.

i remember that too.. it seemed that teams just automatically red shirted linemen. the practice does make a lot of sense.

You are correct though. With all the media and hype these days surrounding recruiting, these kids all think they are headed to the NFL...

    idiots.

2 for 1, remember that deal? You could come to Lincoln in 2011 (Just like you chest thumped awhile back), then schedule the other 2 for 2015.<br/>

Pretty hard to act on something that isn't there.

Nebraska doesn't want the 2011 deal because of their 'tough road' noncon schedule (that looks a lot like Boise's annual slate)...

I am starting to think that someone in "Camp Tom" leaked this 2015 2 for 1 deal and it's a fairly bush league move, especially if this is true and nothing has been offered...because other stuff that I have read seems to indicate there has been a clear offer about the 2015 deal.

I think Nebraska would be a great matchup for both teams. Boise is incredibly fast but they are 'light in the ass' whereas Nebraska is as big and physical as it comes... Boise could use the physical test to see where they stack up. Likewise, Nebraska could use the matchup against a team that is traditionally that fast to prep for some of their Big 12 opponents that emphasize team speed over brawn.

    I hope it happens
