I agree with this CFN analysis: http://cfn.scout.com/2/1352845.html No way Ohio State gets left out if they beat MSU.... I do fully expect FSU to win solidly over Duke.... probably 51-21 etc.. I do expect also that MSU will be an extremely tough out for OSU.... and I would not be shocked in the Buckeyes lose. But if they win..... they're in and deservedly so. I think FSU is an 8 point favorite over OSU.... but I remember well the last time OSU was in the BCS title game and the spread was hovering around 7 or 8 points..... and Urban Meyer does too. I think FSU is the better team.... but still the better coach is Meyer. For the record I think FSU would be slightly favored.... 2 or 3 points over any SEC team..... but it would be hard to bet against the SEC in that scenario.
I posted this in the Auburn post, but this may be a better place to put it. How about this scenario?? Since this was such a great game (remember Alabama vs. LSU, twice?) I think we need to do it again. MSU upsets OSU (very doable) Duke upsets FSU (who knows) Auburn beats Missouri (with their luck how could you count them out) That would put Auburn #1 and Alabama #2. Can you say hate squared??
How long can the Fla State Attny hold off on charging or not charging Winston? The football situation should have no relationship to the criminal case, if and when he has the information he needs (and after a year why doesn't he) he needs to charge or drop the case. If Winston isn't the QB for FSU in the championship game they don't have a chance.
If I remember right, last week he stated it would be up to two weeks before he decided to charge him, which would be the week after the ACC CG. FSU would be a much different team without him, and would be just the string of luck Auburn would need if they were to sneak into the CG against them.
My gut tells me the Atty. G in this case is a racist asshole. If he is not..... then why the damned hold-up? He doesn't come across as an FSU win-at-all-costs sort of guy so what is his deal? What public office is he angling for next?
Corey will love this. Here is a selection of Strength of Schedule rankings by EsPN's Championship Drive Ratings and Sagarin: EsPN: • Auburn - #38 • Alabama - #48 • Missouri - #45 • FSU - #68 • Ohio St. - #64 (fyi - A&M is #41 and WSU is #8) Sagarin: • Auburn - #26 • Alabama - #48 • Missouri - #41 • FSU - #66 • Ohio St. - #61 (fyi - A&M is #31 and WSU is #2) They will change a bit after the CCGs, especially Ohio St. I still don’t understand why all the vitriol at OSU’s SOS since NOBODY I’m reading has the same thing to say about FSU. In addition, remember that Vandy cancelled their series, and OSU replaced them with San Diego St. Replacing Vandy (#41 or #45) with San Diego St. (#72 or #96) hurt their SOS a bit. And who would have predicted Cal would be #106 in EsPN and #121 in Sagarin?? Without those and OSU’s SOS is right in line with Missouri and Bama. Now ask yourself, if OSU had beat Vandy, and Cal had been an average team (#60, right around BC, Pitt, or Cincy) would the discussion be that a one-loss Ohio St. team should have jumped over an undefeated FSU? I think you know the answer to that.
Bill, That may, or may not, be the case. Was Clemson a better team then? That's the thing that drives me nuts about the SEC teams. Every one is a special consideration. You beat a team that was once ranked #5 and they somehow hold that #5 ranking over the course of the entire season. However, that same value booster doesn't apply to teams anywhere else in the country. You can say this Georgia team was the best in the SEC East, but back before their injuries started really piling up, Missouri beat their butts in Athens. Missouri wound up winning the division. In fact, if not for an 8 minute meltdown and an overtime loss to South Carolina (who destroyed Clemson FYI), Missouri is the clear leader for the title game. However, that doesn't fit the marketing narrative of the SEC media machine. Missouri has been the thorn in the side of the SEC all year. They just won't go away and in my opinion, it wouldn't be shocking to see them beat Auburn at all. I think you intended your other comment for Don.
I think there would be a few heads exploding on this forum if that happened. I haven't really heard anyone saying FSU's SOS is anything to brag about either. Oregon and Alabama were the favorites until they both lost.
Not mine. The only problem with that scenario is that, based on the situation several years ago, when the BCS chose not to have a replay of Ohio State-Michigan, I doubt that they would condone a Bama-Auburn rematch. Who knows? Stranger things have happened.
