I see.....should be an easy fix then now that Pelosi, Reid and the banking queen have more power than ever and Fannie Raines is one of the Presidents most influential economic advisors. Why don't we start with the President cease waging a populist war on the finance and investment community. Doesn't look like it's been good for business......or perhaps it has - his business of establishing a socialist state. How did he think the markets would react. If you believe that we can get this train back on the tracks without a strong and vibrant capital markets, you have no clue.......it's time for amateur hour to be over. The country and its citizens should not be guinea pigs for a social experiment.
.....that's actually several steps back from the opposition of the prior administration. Limbaugh is only a media figure not an element of the government. Not only did Bush's loyal opposition hope for failure, they actively worked to undermine the executive during time of war.....now that is moronic.
If you don't believe in expanded Govt, or socialized medicine or demonization of the high achievers in our society.........then why would you work to help make the President achieve those goals. As BT pointed out democrats worked as hard as they could to obstruct and defeat what ever Bush tried to do. It's the nature of politics, I hope you're not suggesting that Obama (or any president) should have a rubber stamp of approval from all regardless of if they believe he's right are you?
I am unemployed because of those "high achievers" and without the Stimulus if I opted for Cobra extension coverage of insurance for my family it would be $1190.00 per month with some significant co-pay expense on top of it and only a $1,000 annual cap per person for dental work. If that all sounds like something we should embrace and be thankful for then I am really missing something here.
....that is simply not true. Not to belittle your circumstances nor to be insensitive, but that statement is just ridiculous.
I was doing just fine until the financial meltdown froze credit......killed the economy....and the combination of which sent the auto companies into a tailspin and caused credit to be hard to come by for my ex-employer. I know it was a combination of things but it really started on the Street. In any event what's to like about our economy....our retirement programs....and our healthcare costs?
BT, Here is something that might brighten your day as the the market tumbles. This is an actual ad on the Key Bank Building in Columbus. Even though it is at my poor Wolverine's expense, it is pretty funny:
That's absurd....the domestic auto companies have been in a tailspin down the to depths of the porcelain receptacle for an entire generation. The only "high achievers" you have to blame for the demise of an industry are in Detroit.....
Bobda, that is actually directly across the street from my old office back in the day. Priceless....well done my friend.
So I'm guessing Makers Mark figures nobody in Mich can afford the good stuff anymore so why not cater to the rich people in Ohio!!
So Terry....is this the kind of healthcare system that you feel is ample for all Americans? You think status quo is fine and we just need more privatization, and less government interference to make it even better? I would guess more privatization would at least double the costs as I outlined above.......but of course I could make it up in the stock market by buying healthcare stocks with all of my unemployment checks....
I hope that you are not counting on recieving the same level and access to care under Obamacare as you previously recieved under your private iemployer paid healthcare. Oh yeah and don't forget, there is no free lunch. You'll be taxed in some way shape or form, hidden or otherwise for your new lowered quality of care.
Considering that 85% of laid off workers could not afford the cost of Cobra and opt not to elect it don't you think the 65% payment by the Stimulus arrangement is a good idea? If not....what do you you propose these people do.....go without? I get the maximum unemployment check and it amounts to only $1440 per month before taxes. Do the math...what family could afford healthcare in this country if they are unemployed.
1440.00 a month for sitting home on ur *SS !! No wonder so many collecting..not working..and working "under the table"
I wouldn't want to wish any ill will toward you Jif.....but you make it difficult. I don't think you have a clue my man. Good luck to you.
