Thanks Bill, I missed the point that to have the ability to rekick, you must also cover the rolling ball. Duh...
All the more reason not to kick from so far out although I'm sure no one knew that except Lincoln himself probably. For me....the two failures from that mid-40s distance weighed heavily on what I would have expected Lincoln to do from 44 yards out yet again. I will tell you I didn't have much confidence he would make it due solely to the misfires. The longer the kick the lower the trajectory and that's how kicks get blocked.
Give it a rest Dave, obviously the coach had faith in his kicker being able to kick that far. For whatever reason he was kicking low yesterday. Can you imagine running the ball, gaining no yardage and fumbling the ball, the criticism for that. In my opinion he did the right thing, try a 40 yarder for the win. It just didn't work.
No Bill... Dave is the Czar of college football. He knows all and is not afraid to convince all of his wisdom. I bet he thinks he knows more than Meyer. Better watch out. He'll be back stabbing Meyer to get his job soon.
Dave, what calls have you disagreed with on any other coach other than Kiffin? Inquiring minds want to know.
KnoxNews Report Card after Bama game Also, just heard on the Lane Kiffin show that Coach Majors is back interacting with the University. Appears that he was not getting involved until Fulmer left.
I don't see why it is so far fetched that I would question this Tom when Kiffin himself is torn about the decision: Hey....I give him credit that he hasn't just brushed the decision under the rug. I can tell you that a Ron Zook type coach would have minimized it for instance and the rest of us would have been scratching our heads about how he failed to acknowledge it's significance. Excuse me that I was watching this game as one of importance to me in that 3:30 time slot as I could have been watching Notre Dame or someone else in which I might have had a coaching question.
Dave, You have my blessing to watch any other game playing the same time as Tennessee. In fact, I would appreciate it.
Yes, Tom. Having gotten to know you in KC, I know you are a guy who says what he means and means what he says. You also have a very nice way with words, which allows you to say what you mean with a smile on your face, so to speak.
When it's all said and done let's tally up the posts and see who really holds the lead in hostility.... 8)
