Howard served as an asst coach in the NBA so he has some experience. But, they also hired as an assistant Phil Martelli who was a very successful coach at St Joseph. I imagine he is a big asset for Howard.

Martelli was and is an outstanding coach. Couldn’t understand why St. Joseph let him go.

North Carolina is favored over us by 2 1/2 points. This will be our first road game so I can not disagree with North Carolina being fovored on their home court, should tell us something about the quality of this young team for this season.

The Hoosiers looked pretty solid to me last night. Big Ten Conference teams should provide some good basketball viewing this winter.

HUGE win for Purdue tonight...beat unbeaten #5 defending Nat'l Champs Virginia 69-40. They were missing one of their stalwarts (Braxton Key) but still....:)

Big Ten wins ACC/BigTen Challenge 8-6, Buckeyes defeated North Carolina 74-49 this evening in Chapel Hill. We are a very good defensive team and will win quite a few games this season on that alone. This is not the typical North Carolina power house of years past.

We had a dismal record vs North Carolina Bobda, 2-10! Some small measure of payback.:p

I watched as much of the OSU-UNC game as I could before bedtime. While I was watching, UNC looked like a 7th grade B team, unable to hit the basket from anywhere on the court. I've said before that I'm a big Chris Holtman fan after what he did at Butler. Glad to see him get the win. Could this be the year that B10 BB overtakes the ACC as the best BB conference? It's possible. Should make the season interesting for this normally so-so college BB fan.

Virginia beat Purdue in overtime last year in the Elite Eight. I think both teams aren't up to last year's level, at least at this point. Matt Painter's teams seem to always get better as the year progresses.

That’s not that bad, Don. 2-17 since 2001 is a lot more dismal....

Irish were blown out by Maryland last night. I fear this will be another tough year for ND Men's Basketball.

We beat a pretty good Penn State team yesterday here at home, in our first conference game 106-74.

Butler remains undefeated, beating Florida 76-62. It was Butler's 56th straight non-conference win at home, best in the country. Key non-conference games before Christmas: at Baylor and vs Purdue in the Indy Crossroads Classic.

Sid, Butler always manages to come up with a good solid program, change of coaches does seem to affect them at all.

My Buckeyes are getting off to a great start in this very young basketball season. They are now ranked 3rd behind Louisville and Kansas. Maryland and Michigan are also ranked in the top five.
