West Virginia goes down, Miami goes down... 4 top 10 teams lose..
    Playoff picture gets scrambled.

Terry, actually the picture is clearing up. I think we had 11 undefeated teams going into this weekend and 3 lost, so now we have 8. The ACC has 2, so one of them will be eliminated and that would leave 7. The American Conference has 3 so I guess that would mean 2 more with at least one loss so then we are down to 5. That is the maximum we could have. One from the SEC, one from the Big 10, Notre Dame, one from the American and one from the ACC. That is the most we could have. If history is any indicator we will have less than that. Although right now I think Alabama, Ohio State, Notre Dame and UCF are all favor in all of their remaining games.

You are being very kind to Ohio State Kp. Our defense has become very porous and our running game is absent, due to offensive line problems. Haskins is playing great, but he is under constant pressure with poor pass protection.

It will be very interesting to see how the polls will view teams like Ohio State and Notre Dame with escapes from Minnesota and Pittsburgh!

Not all that many to choose from after yesterday Don.

Dave, where do you think Florida will be in the polls? I think it will take a while now to sort things out

UCLA!! Gets their first win, and do it in convincing fashion. Has the Chip Kelly era started now? Neb almost gets it's first win, very tough loss for the Huskers, but they are definitely getting closer to that first win.

kp, you are right and really I just don't see any undefeated team from the AAC making the playoffs. I guess it's possible but I think they'll get left out again.

Texas won yesterday with their backup QB after Sam Ehlinger left with a shoulder problem, Alabama had Tua go to the sidelines and Jalen Hurts did a great job finishing off Missouri. Nice to have good backup QB's. Also nice to have excellent defenses like Texas and Alabama have.

Colorado went down pretty easily to USC. JT Daniels had a pretty good game once he got rolling, USC defense handled Colorado as well. Trojans sort of in command in the Pac12 South now. Next weeks game vs Utah is huge.

Don I'll bet the polls look like this.

    1. Alabama
    2. Ohio State
    3. Clemson
    4. Notre Dame ...in spite of Joel claiming we should fall to #12!
    5. Texas
    6. LSU
    7. Michigan
    8. Oregon
    9. OU
    10. Fla

Terry, Hurts is playing much better this season than he did at the end of last season. It's like he is learning from Tua how to be a passing qb that can instead of a running qb. Apparently Tua is ok but his knee could use a rest to recover. I wonder if he will start against Tennessee? We have a bye the next week so that would give him 2 weeks off to recover.

Don, I hear what you're saying but I still think you are favored in the rest of your games aren't you? Everyone has close calls. We still have to play LSU.

Of course we could end up with no undefeated teams as well.

Kp, after watching Michigan smother the Badgers, No we definitely will not be in a position to beat Michigan this year!

Terry, I think your top 10 is very plausible. I just do not think we are the #2 team at this juncture.

Don I agree with Terry's top ten.

I think beating LSU last week and seeing what the Tigers did to Georgia should get UF into the 10 spot but in spite of no real quality wins for Ga. I also wouldn't be surprised to see #10 Georgia and #11 Florida.

At least it was gratifying to see the Gators as part of the top ten to choose from for College Football Final's Top 5 selection segment.

That's coming a long long way back to relevancy for the Gators.

MCG, I think Georgia's win over Washington is probably a quality win. There are a lot of teams with 1 loss that are going to be part of the discussion by the end of the season.

That was Auburn that beat Washington Kp.

Georgia's best win(s) were at SouCar and at Mo. plus now that home win over Tenn looks better.

But by far the best team they have faced is LSU.

Kirby Smart outsmarted himself yesterday. Fake field goal, the way he put Fields in for one or two plays at a time, flea flicker, going away from a successful running game. Over thinking!

Yeah Kirby tried to 'out genius' Fred Flinstone and it blew up in his face. Likewise, the Gus Bus was exposed again but will still probably rebound to inexplicably upset at least one more big team before the end of the year.

    A couple of things.

    1. Saban using Jalen the way he has this year is pure genius. Tua has gotten enough playing time to put up out of this world stats and be the leader in the Heisman race. While Jalen has been getting plenty of playing time and kp is saying he's developed as a QB. So if Tua is a no go in the next game they can plug in Jalen and the Tide should be just fine, it's not the same when your backup has been holding a clipboard for most of the season.

    2. That said Dabo's handling of the Kelly Bryant situation is questionable as is Kelly's reaction to being demoted.

    3. Kirby Smart is facing a difficult situation with Jake Fromm and Justin Fields. Fields was considered by many to be even better than Trevor Lawrence. I heard talk this morning that indicated that Smart needs to play Fields more because the way teams are playing UGA they need to have an athletic QB back there to keep them honest. That Fromm is not that guy. If Fields does supplant Fromm as the starter I won't be surprised if Fromm leaves in the off season.

Oh yeah, other than Alabama the rest of the teams in the top 10 are flawed in one way or the other. The Irish have a suspect OL, and no real speed burner at WR. Lots of good players but no Will Fuller.

Don has posted the flaws in Ohio States game.

Don is absolutely right. DL playing great but too many breakdowns in LB and secondary. Can't believe the OL problems we are having. The question is whether Urban Meyer can get the problems fixed.

I fully expect Ohio State to beat Purdue, but with Purdue's offense (611 yards last week) and Haskins' ability...take the over on the points...whatever it is. :!:

I don't think we're the second best team in the country either...but it doesn't matter, really. If we win out, then it's appropriate...if we drop one...we'll drop.

Michigan looking REALLY good right now. ND is a great team but I think maybe you should be glad you played them early. I'm not saying that to say they are ranked too low...but rather to say that I am worried about playing them.

But that's part of the fun!

I'd play them again. We're a better team now than we were then. The problem I have is with Kelly. It's like, for some opponents you can tell he really prepared and the team shows it. Then for other opponents, it's like we did walk thru's all week and just showed up with a standard plan to attack. No real adjustments, in game or otherwise, especially offensively.

I think we have a weakness at RT and have all season. Other than that, I put a lot of blame on our HC. I think Harbaugh and his intense approach to everything shows in a week to week basis for the Wolverines. I just don't think Kelly has that same fire. At the same time, if the two were to be meeting in 2 weeks, I think Kelly would be ready for them... he notoriously has nothing prepared for the Tulsa's, Ball State's, Navy's etc. no matter how many times they've bitten him in the ass.
