    Bobda,

If it makes you feel any better, I really think that BYU is a solid football team that has their QB back this year (Mangum). Troy is a good football team and they have the best football coach you've never heard of, but some day, someone is gonna hire that guy and you won't forget his name. They're also discreetly talented.

UCLA and USC are genuine HS teams. JOCO and I have been trying to tell you guys this. They're both tanking this year to give lots of HS aged and freshman players full time playing time. They won't be bad next year or there after, but currently, they are pickle chugging champions.

Back to underrated teams, San Diego State is very good (for anyone who stayed up to watch that one with me last night). Still, I've never seen a targeting call in which the defensive player was guilty, so clearly benefit the defensive side. It literally changed the game.

    KP,

I think it's a tad early to tell. Georgia has played no one. You SEC guys can keep telling me that South Carolina is good, but I'm never going to believe you. :)

There are some teams like Alabama and Georgia that have looked really flashy and spectacular, but honestly, no one has done more than LSU so far. (if the rankings are to be considered). Not only that, they are now past Auburn on the Plains on their schedule and they walked out with a W.

Ohio State picked up a nice win last night, but is TCU really that good? They are certainly that fast, that's for sure.

Clemson has a quality win at Texas A&M. Neither Georgia or Alabama has a win of that quality on their slate so far. Alabama gets their chance to notch that quality W this weekend against A&M, although it's at home. You can't really split hairs though..

So fast out of the gate?? Alabama on the 'they're kings until someone knocks them off the hill rule', LSU, Clemson, Ohio State... and Georgia/Oklahoma look really good right now.

Ok, you're probably right. It seems like you are saying that no one is any good so beating anyone means nothing. The only poll that matters is the the last one in January. So I guess we'll see. The good news is that Alabama plays A&M ( even though it is at home), LSU, and Auburn. I know you don't think they are any good either but they are all ranked ( I know you don't think that means anything either).

    I'll say this.
Seemed like everyone expected Ole Miss to stress the Bama defense, and score at least in the 20's to make it intersting for a while.

From what I see... that was a butt-kicking after that first (and only) score.

Hard to say they aren't elite, they sure look pretty testy to me.

Watched both Texas and USC and Ohio State and TCU.

Puleeeze. Texas is extremely young and lost all their good defensive players from last years squad. They have a true soph at QB, who only a year older than Daniels. Texas needed that win, and things went their way. But USC isn't tanking like Pro teams for a better spot in the draft. They get outstanding talent every year in recruiting. They reload.

Ohio State/TCU TCU really played much better than I thought they would, but a couple of plays just doomed them. That fumble in the Endzone, the shovel pass, and the poor snap on the punt. But credit to Ohio State, they took advantage of every mistake. Plus they had more fans at Jerry World than TCU!

Is this Alabama offense the best Alabama offense ever? Maybe. I for one am completely impressed with how Bama has played this year. They look like the best team in the country to me.

Eddie O...wow he's on a roll now! From hot seat to hot shot in just a couple of games.

As Bobda said bad week for B1G. I can't believe Troy beat Neb in Lincoln. I mean that was a Troy team that was dry humped at home by Booise State the same team that couldn't take the heat of facing a B12 team on the road! :) But I do think Scott Frost is an excellent coach but will need some time to get things turned in his direction.

Ohio State going to Happy Valley is probably the game of the year for the B1G.

I can't believe KU has won back to back games against real football teams.

That Wash win over Utah was big. The Pac12 needs to have at worst a 1 loss champion. Lots of dangerous games for the top Pac 12 teams coming up.

I think UGA and Clemson are the real deals. I don't care who they have or haven't played. So is Alabama. SEC West is looking very tough. Jimbo seems to have A&M doing well, Eddie O, Auburn, Alabama..don't sleep on undefeated Miss State.

But as kp said we've got a long way to go, and a lot of current contenders will be eliminated in the next 4 weeks.

    re: youth

The youngest team in America is Cincinnati.
    UCLA is #2...

Jeez KP, I listed the teams that I thought looked good and the teams that I thought showed something, I don't know what more you want. I included your team in the list. I am refraining from calling this the greatest Alabama offense of all-time, unlike many Alabama fans and that seems to be where you are headed, but there's just too much football to be played. Right now they look like the real deal that's for sure. At the same time, you played 3 shitty teams. If I am being generous, you played an average team, a mid-tier Sun Belt team if that and an SEC team that may have the worst defense. I do congratulate you in dropping 60+ on them when they had given up 60 plus in their 1st two games.

But I have forever hated early polls. They're worthless and they establish and precedent of prejudice that is used through the course of the season.

And mind you, I'm not honking my own team's horn. We're in the top 10 and I think we're the worst 3 win team in the FBS right now.

Following our nice win over TCU Saturday night, reality sets in with losing Nick Bosa to some type of groin injury. We will not need his services against Tulane, but I certainly hope he will be back for the Penn State game by the end of September!

Don, yeah that was a quality win. Hopefully Bosa can recover quickly, he is going to be really needed down the road.
