This is the weekend that I am signed up for the SRT Driving experience. Some of you have seen this on my Facebook page.

Take a look at the SRT Driving Experience website for everything that will be happening this weekend. I can't wait!

Man, have a great time!...You gonna use their car or your own orange rocket?

We have the Mid Ohio Sports Car Course just 3 miles from my house. They have the Indy Cars there every year along with multiple other events.

Years ago I was going to take their high performance school but back then you had to use your own car and I decided I didn't want to pay tuition to beat up my Mustang GT. Now you can use your own car or for a small fee can use their Accura TSX's.

They have a wonderful teen driving that I put all the boys through...includes defensive driving, collision avoidance, emergency maneuvers, skid pad maneuvers, and vehicle maintenance.

Can't use your own car. Chrysler corporation sets the class up with factory SRT8 vehicles. I'm not sure how the selection process works. I will be hoping for a SRT8 Challenger of course. Hopefully a stick but will settle for an automatic.

Diane, the only "race" with which I am concerned happens in Ft Worth Texas this weekend. Fontana can get wet this weekend but please God, put a dome over Texas Motor Speedway. :)

I have some questions for all of you Speed Racers. The Auto Club Speedway in Fontana is right near my house, but I've never been to any kind of race. I went to drag races in Irwindale and Pomona when I was young, but I've never seen a race on an oval like NASCAR does. I see that I can get tickets for $50, because I'm an Auto Club member... My questions are:

    1. Where do I want to sit? High up or down low?
    2. If I bring food, can I take it inside?
    3. Can I bring my own alcohol?

What does a first-time fan need to know? My wife likes Danica Patrick, but I always laugh out loud when I hear that her engine has blown up again...

Sorry Jim, the last NASCAR race I remember going to was 1987 at Talledega Alabama. That was the race with the Bobby Allison crash that pushed NASCAR to go to restrictor plates at the high speed tracks the following year.

The higher you get, the more you can see. As for what you can bring in, rules can change in 25 years.

The rookie at Texas Motor Speedway took 4th and was nudged out of third by 0.004 seconds. We had a blase there and on the way home found a facebook invitation to run with the local Corvette club in a "Hill Country Slow Relaxing run" today. We went and had a blast there as well. One gal that is a friend of the club joined in with her Maxda Miata. When speeds toped 110+ in this "Slow run", she started waiving cars by. There were 51 cars: 45 Corvettes, 2 Camaros, 1 Viper, 1 Prowler, 1 Miata, and my Challenger.

One of my drag race / slalom course wins. I won three out of four races. I beat myself on the 4th one by not stopping within the first stop box. This even had you drag race approx 1/16th mile then stop within a box that was only 3 feet longer than the wheelbase of the vehicle, then turn around and run a slalom course that was only three feet wider than the car in the corners, then stop at another stop box.

This was not my best performance. Our fastest laps were from 13:30 to 15:00. My thumb drive filled up by 12:45.
