I can play that game too. While Florida had no designs or delusions last year of being a national title game team the Gators played LSU down to the very last wire in the Tiger's home stadium in October. Ohio State...who obviously is touted so highly here of being so..so much better than Florida last year and was annointed as a national title contender meanwhile played 70 miles down the road in a stadium filled with fans of both teams and was soundly beaten by that same LSU squad that was very fortunate to beat Florida. Also....how many times do I have to say that I just will not be impressed by that win by OSU over a Michigan team that basically had no Qb. The Michigan team played by OSU did not even remotely resemble offensively the Michigan team that Florida faced and it was not all because of a poor defensive effort by Florida. Geezus....how many times? On this decade's Big Ten record vs. Florida....Zook was 0-2 and current coach Meyer is 2-1 with of course the 41-14 thrashing of arguably the best team the Big Ten has had this decade and please don't tell me the 2002 Buckeyes were better than the 2006 Buckeyes. Luckier...but not better.
Who lost to Michigan State in Orlando on 1/1/2000? You've played 6 games in the 2000's against the Big 10. You've played 5 of those games in your own backyard. You've lost 4 - yet the Big 10 sucks. We'll never know how M would have fared against us had both teams been healthy. We do know in fact how M would have fared against the Gators. We do know that we've won 6 of the last 7 times we've played them anywhere, so we'll just have to take a wild a$$ guess. I know what my guess is.....they wouldn't have won that game if Tom Brady had come back and put on his old jersey and took Henne's place under center. So, the above notwithstanding, basically you're telling me that you played the same team in Orlando - in your own back yard - that Appy State and Oregon punked in Ann Arbor and you lost - and the Big 10 sucks? The Gators were a more worthy competitor than the Vols -v- LSU in the SEC title game yet got whacked by the same Big 10 team in your own backyard by a team that got thumped by Appy State and Oregon in Ann Arbor and yet - the Big 10 sucks! These inferior opponents sport an 11-5 bowl record -v- their SEC counterparts during the decade of the 2000's - yet the Big 10 sucks and our opponents are inferior. Dude, even you must see how ridiculous that sounds...... The elephant in the room has now expanded to take up all available space.....nothing more need be said. To which Sir Knight responds bravely - it's only a flesh wound.
MCG, I can't agree with your positions and you just don't seem to know when to back off or when to give the other guy some due in a gracious manner. But hey at least we are getting some traffic around here.  So let's summarize the Gator record against the Big 10 this decade. Spurrier 0 - 1 Zook 0 - 2 Meyer 2 - 1 We've beaten Ohio State and Iowa. And as I recall Iowa had an onside kick after their last TD that if they had gotten the call would have put them in position to win the game. Sorry but I have to agree that us Gators hardly have the stats on our side to put down the Big 10.
there once was a time <r>in which Pete Carroll was 0-1 vs Notre Dame.<br/> <br/> Sometimes, things change. Sometimes, they stay the same. I still can't believe Dave keeps giving away all of the space that Bill keeps buying on this topic.<br/> <br/> As for Rick and George, we can debate the relative merits and/or shortcomings of Fredo but the fact remains that he's 'banging cocktail waitresses two at a time'...<br/> <br/> <IMG src="http://www.beloblog.com/KHOU_formenonly/fredo.jpg"><s></e></IMG></r>
I've always wondered why everybody felt sorry for Fredo.....I just hoped he was in good shape!
BT...because it was the 1999 season in which UF sputtered miserably at the finish I guess I did forget about the 2000 Cap One loss to MSU. One consolation for me though is that when Florida was healthy and humming they "obliterated"....( hey I like that word ) the best the Big Ten had to offer 41-14.... 8).
Glad to hear you've found comfort.....I too seem to vaguely recall needing a comforting thought after a 4 loss season, but it's been a while and they are quite infrequent so the memory is hazy at best..... ....a far better consolation for me is to not lose so often 8)
Yeah....nice to have your team play in the Big Easy....I mean Big Ten...so you don't have to worry so much about those bothersome losses
I don't find any of your losses the least bit bothersome.....and quite frankly you are on a relentless crusade to make them enjoyable with your clever, rapier-like wit and mature, well conceived offerings.
Dave, sometime you will have to explain to me just what it is about being gracious and friendly that you find so offense. Why you have to try, not necessarily successfully, to put others down.
I have a long memory Bill and I don't forget nasty....condescending asinine B/S thrown my way. Besides...it is truly how I view the situation last year with Ohio State....why lie?
Come on Dave, your memory is a bit faulty as to how people treated you. First in more cases than not you are the one that starts the conversation. I'm also a Gator and I don't have those kind of memories about the people here at all. And even if it is the way you feel the problem is also with how you present your feelings and how often you beat a topic to death with your feelings.
Not talking about everyone here Bill.....just a couple and one or two chiming in at times and it does go back to the days leading up to the Florida-Ohio State game. In any event I am not trying to make it personally directed toward individuals but rather my opinions about Ohio State last season are definite and strong and it's also about how that relates to the coming season not so much because of who Ohio State is going to be but more what it looks like the Big Ten will be this year........which is as weak or possibly even weaker than last year. If the SEC sucked like that I would say it and admit it and be embarassed by it especially if it caused Florida to have a #62 ranked schedule. I would hate that and would want it to change instead of defending it with games that happened 6 years ago.
And just how do you think you might have contributed to that Dave? I guess it comes as a really big surprise to me that your feelings are strong and negative! If the SEC sucked like that I would say it and admit it and be embarassed by it especially if it caused Florida to have a #62 ranked schedule. I would hate that and would want it to change instead of defending it with games that happened 6 years ago. [/quote] I don't really know how to respond to that except to say I'm skeptical. As to the situation before the Ohio State and Florida game let me say that I do not remember being that down on Florida except in reaction to a lot of your posts. I do remember that what should have been a fun time for me on Skybox wasn't and a big part of the reason was due to your approach. I even tried to started a flame free topic which didn't work out so well. That whole situation was a big part of the moderators decision to start locking topics and enforcing our code more strongly. And whether you like it or not you were a big factor in that decision. This is a small but great place where members seem to like each other. There are a few people who like to see how much they can stir the pot. You seem to carry grudges with you for a long time. Even if there were some people who did as you say before the Ohio State game two years ago, I don't see evidence of that here now where you have to state your negative feelings toward Ohio State. I don't know what else to say.
Normally a schedule like that will prevent your team from playing for the national title so who would want a schedule rated so easy? If that's what transpired with UF's schedule I can't see many if any Gator fans defending it.
