Not looking real good for the Zooker right now, down 14-0.

    George,

I like your UD avatar. My niece is a soph at Dayton on an athletic/academic scholarship. She is on the track team. She gave me a UD baseball hat for Christmas. I watched the Flyers drub Pittsburgh the other night. They have an excellent b-ball team this year.

    Illni score a td, 21-10.

    S. Cal still looks like the better team, but the game isn't out of hand at this point.

Illinois was in a position to score and pull within 21-17. Instead they fumble and USC is pouring it on 35-10.

The Illini are in over their head here, but that doesn't detract from the overall job that Zook has done there and they should stay competitive in the future.

    Sid,

Grew up on Flyer basketball and football. A lot of great ones have passed through those halls.

Illinois had their chances but just self destructed at the worst possible moments. USC LB Ray Maluga...that guy is a beast.

you're talking about the coin toss, right? ;)

I know what you mean. Just for a second, it appeared they would climb right back into it... and then the wheels came off the wagon.

I see where Zook won one of those coach of the year awards. If he's coach of the year what's Harbaugh?

USC tied the all-time Rose Bowl record for most points in a game, set by Michigan in the very first Rose Bowl in 1901. They could have made the final score anything they wanted to, scoring their final two TDs with reserves on the field, including 6th-string TB Hershel Dennis and walk-on QB Mike McDonald...

Brent "The Cheerleader" Musberger was worthless again. On those rare occasions when an Illini player made a good play, he would yell "From Chicago!" or "What a great NFL future that kid has!" He couldn't pronounce any of the local kid's Samoan names, but he was pumping Juice Williams as a great QB even after Zook replaced him with a QB who could actually pass...

Oh! How did you like Musberger's analysis of USC's passing game at halftime? According to The Cheerleader, most of USC's passes were completed to the fullback and the TE, because the Trojans didn't have any good WRs. What crap. Hazelton and Ausberry were both offered scholarships by Notre Dame and UCLA and everybody else when they were HSAAs. They were throwing to TE Fred Davis, because he's the best TE in the country and they were throwing to Havili, because he was open and uncovered coming out of the backfield...

QB ratings for USC QBs: Booty 136.9, Sanchez 123.2

At least Herbie laughs out loud at some of the things he says. I don't find him entertaining at all...

Gip, did you just answer your own question?

It's OK to talk to yourself...it's even OK to answer yourself...

Just don't ask yourself to repeat the question.

Geez JO'Co, it sounds like you believe everybody wants to pick on poor old USC!

Right now USC is the premier program in the country, you know it, I know it and everybody else knows it. That doesn't mean they are entitled to be in the championship game every year, but it does mean that they will start the year ranked either number 1 or number 2 almost every year and if they have either no losses or one loss they will most likely be in the Championship game. This year they lost twice and were behind another team that lost twice but both times in triple OT.

They will just reload and start next season at one or two again.

    They are not mistreated.

    I think

<t>some of the shock here comes from a loss to Stanford, which came when USC was gutted by injuries...and there was a HUGE pick 6 in that game, that seems to be keeping USC from any and all consideration...meanwhile, we have a 2 loss SEC team playing for the NC because... they are the champions of the SEC...

I mean, if we are going on reputations here...which sucks, but is fine given this awful system... then LSU can't even get in the same building as USC..

LSU is in the dance because the SEC was 'clearly better' than the other conferences.. That isn't playing out to be the case at all.

On a total thread hijack attempt...

Do these bowl tie-ins suck or what?</t>

USC gutted by injuries...vs Stanford. Ha, Ha, Ha, Ha,Ha...oh don't make me laugh. There was probably not 5 players on the Stanford team that USC ever had an interest in when recruiting, and if the Stanford players had magically transfered to USC and competed for jobs, I'll bet not a single Stanford player would be on the 3 deep. So pulllleeeeeeeeeze don't play the injury card with the Stanford loss.

Well I was allowing for up to 5 guys on Stanford who might have been recruited by USC. You've got 1, who are the other 4!!

You crack me up with your USC gutted by injuries....oh I'm crying I tell you!
