Was able to early vote for the first time in my life today on a Sunday at 2:00 pm in the afternoon in a County that is not not known for being very progressive and I'm appreciating it.

Ballot was hand written then scanned to make sure it was legible...

I wish everyone here the freedom to vote their choices the next week or so...

Good deal. I wonder if that will become the norm everywhere. I'm in Alabama, so I'm shocked we still don't vote via smoke signal.

I've never been keen on the electronic voting systems... I like seeing tangible evidence of what I selected...

I will do my civic duty tomorrow.
And therefore, I get to complain when things don't go my way!
    :D

All I know is... I'm ready for it to be OVER.

I went last Thursday and waited 2 hours. No problem. I'm glad I did.

Aren't mail in ballots only counted if there's a statistical probability that they'd make an impact?

Took a while to read up on some of the amendment proposals and judicial seats on the ballot but got ours in the mail on Fri. Many if most seniors use absentee ballots. I'm sure that they're not only counted if they'll make a difference. In fact in places like Fla. the election day votes might be in the minority.

Corey, the early voting locations in our county and around the state are the city and town halls, which are not connected with specific precincts. My early vote was treated as an absentee vote because it took place away from our home precinct. These are regular votes counted in the election. I don't know how they are treated in other states, but I'm guessing the treatment is similar to Indiana.

If I'm not mistaken the mailing and early voting both count as a regular vote these days in most if not all states. In days past it was something different but since every vote (See Floridas hanging chad) counts and is important it is counted..

All votes count. The last stat that I heard was that 1/4 of all Americans vote by mail. As gipper pointed out, most seniors vote by mail.

I don't know why anybody who could vote by mail would do otherwise. I voted by mail.

Also since every state in the Union allows early voting and cuts it off right before the election along with the mail in vote. I wonder why we just don't have a week of voting that ends on the 1st Tues in November.

Here in Harris County there are of course fewer places than are available on election day, but that could be fixed rather easily. They could even have voting places that open at 5 and stay open till 10pm for people who can't get off work.

In Texas you can vote by mail if you are
I wonder why everybody who is eligible to vote can't vote by mail?

Voted by mail once; didn't like it.

Took longer...filled out and mailed in the application...then when the ballot came took longer to fill out the ballot, fill out the envelopes, sign and certify, etc.

Then when I put it in the mailbox, I thought "How the hell do I know that it even gets there to be counted...and if it does, how do I know it isn't gonna be screwed with somehow?" (Yeah, I know it could happen with voting machines also...just sayin')

Voting early I just buzz in, run through the touch screen, review the printout, and leave.
