I'd have never guessed that we'd be in 1st place, at any point in the season. Granted there are lots of game to be played and plenty of time for us to crash down to last place. But still I'm thinking less and less of the Cardinals!
The Darkside is a powerful one Doc.....and do not let the possibility of losing Waino for the season sway your thoughts in anyway. Obi Wan Cardnobi sends....
Don't be dissuaded by our "corporate, burgeoise Dodger fan friend with the unlimited budget to scarf up free agents far and wide ", Doc. He forgot to mention the old , rag-tag first place New York Yankees as well but I don't feel slighted.
Never heard of the Guillen number before but we have a good one! http://espn.go.com/blog/sweetspot/post/_/id/57712/streaking-astros-are-delivering-by-design
Best start in Team History, and only a 12 game winning in Aug/Sept 2004 back in the glory days with Roger Clemens, Craig Biggio, Jeff Kent, Bagwell, Light's Out Lidge, etc is longer than the current 10 game streak. Up next the last place Texas Rangers. ...maybe that record can be beat...but I don't want to jinx them!
Astros leading the league in SB and first in MLB in holding onto a lead and winning.....18-0. Cards second at 18-2, I think.
A.J. called me twice last night, and jinxed the Astros! He was a real chicken little after the Cubs jumped on the Cardinals in the top of the 1st!
It was 5-0 after the top of the 1st.....completely upset....cub fans giving me crap already at the house I was at......then Mark Reynolds takes a 0-1 pitch over left field bullpen with the bases drunk.....5-4 after 1....I felt better then.
Yup a sweep it was.... now the Angels are up next a 4 game series on the coast...need to get the first one to stop the bleeding.
Since that Rangers sweep the season first went sideways and now going down hill, last night's loss makes it 7 in a row. Everybody excited that Carlos Correa is finally up with the big club and big things are expected of him. But he can't carry the club by himself. Last 10 games we're 3-7, while the Rangers who swept us when they were in last place used that sweep to jump start their season and are now only 2 games behind the fading Astros. Long season.
