They have to get there first.

I'm in a second chance bracket, and I have TN losing to Duke in the final game. If I had a third chance bracket, I'd be picking Butler as the national champ.

    It can happen.

You are right Sid, I'm just predicting and hoping.

Butler is my second choice. :)

    Basketball....

<t>Butler amazes me with their grit and play. So well coached and fears nobody. If I'm Oregon and their new 200 million dollar arena and open job after running Ernie Kent the day Butler loses or wins it all I'm sitting in front of Butler's 33 year old coach and makes him an offer he cannot refuse. He is that good of a basketball coach.<br/>
I'm pulling for Duke as its the model program coached by a legend but for them to beat Baylor they must shoot the basketball better today and play great Duke defense as Baylor is real good under Drew. Believe me there are many in the 12 that would like to see Drew take a big name job and leave as they know he is a problem from now on.<br/>
Nice to see Kentucky flame out and say goodbye to Walls and Cousins. No matter they are lined up to play there under shaddy Calipari.</t>

    Larry,

I'm kind of hoping he hangs around Butler awhile then heads about 150 miles north t replace Mike Brey when Brey gets the proverbial offer he can't refuse. I like Brey and hope he stays, but someday he will be gone.

I don't think Iowa will come after him because it was his predecessor at Butler, Todd Lickliter, that Iowa just fired.

    Sid....

<t>Believe me I would go nuts to get this guy at ND but don't see it happening as IMO the Irish program is stuck in neutral and I like Brey but how long is enough?</t>

Fran McCaffrey was hired by Iowa so the Butler coach won't be going there. Also El Kabong who is pretty connected with ND basketball and a Board Op over on NDnation posted today that the Butler guy has been approached not by Swarbrick but by a "friend of the program" on his own inniative and was told he had no interest in ND.

    Butler Coach and ND Thread

Of course things change over time and if and when Brey is no longer the ND coach who knows what will be the situation at that time.

I question the veracity of that information. First of all, what does he mean by "friend"? That could be you or me or a kid with an ND sweatshirt. Second, why would the coach say anything other than what he supposedly said (if he even said it) if (a) we already have a coach, and (b) it was not a verifiable official inquiry? Third, why would ND have any interest at all, even unofficial, given its current situation with a coach firmly in place?

This means nothing. I don't know why the guy would even want to write what he did unless he enjoys the attention.
