AJ, you poked a little good natured fun at our band the other day (not an issue)...I just wanted to show this. I was at the game Sat. night and the halftime show started out as "Classic Arcade Games" and I thought...yeah, right...this won't be much. It was one of the best, if not THE best halftime shows I have ever seen...clever, inventive, and very tight formations...Space Invaders, Tetris, Mario Bros., Pac Man, Halo, Legends of Zelda...even a poke at Michigan. If you don't watch the whole 9 minute video, at least try to check out the horse from Legends of Zelda at the 6 minute mark. I even found a review of the show on a United Kingdom news site; Ohio State University Marching Band Plays Video Games Theme <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/sAzzbrFgcUw" frameborder="0"></iframe>
Wow Stu, that was terrific. I live out in a rural area and have a wireless service that causes me to have to have buffering frequently. I don't usually watch video's that long because of that, however I watched this one all the way through. The horse was unbelievable. While a Sat at the Swamp is great, our band is not at that level.
Stu, I saw a post on either the OZone or 11 Warriors from some Nebraska fans, who thought the band halftime performance was great!
Ahhhh, the good side of The Skybox ... getting to see something great I would have never otherwise seen. For a former Gator-band geek married to a current band-geek teacher (who both still go to see the Drum Corp competitions when they are at the movies), this was spectacular. Love it when the crowd not only cares about the band, but really gets excited by it too!
Absolutely fantastic, I sent this out to a few friends and came home and threw it up on the big screen TV and watched it again with my wife. Probably the best half time show I have ever seen and cannot imagine how many hot summer hours they worked to perfect this...Thanks..
My now deceased father-in-law played in the OSU Marching Band back in the 30's before it was all brass. He played saxophone. The band became all brass in 1934.
Quite a Band legacy. Your dad was in the Mich band and your Father in law was in the Ohio State band. Not to mention you being in the Purdue Band. Any of your kids do band?
They all were in HS band but only 2 played in the marching band. They could because they were swimmers. Mike was a soccer player which conflicted. None of them continued on in college. Mike played on his college golf team, Jeremy did gymnastics and met his wife on the team and Chris made the Ohio university swim team as a walk on but dropped it quickly because it interfered with his social life. Priorities.
