Dodgers vs the Astros. Dodgers have home field advantage! It's been quite awhile since two 100 win teams have faced off in the WS. Astros need the hitters to come alive, we need to sneak a win out of the first 2 games. Astro Defense was huge in the ALCS. If we don't make some big plays, like the catches Springer makes in CF or the throw by Bregman to the plate in game 7, maybe we don't win. Good Luck boys!
Terry, I lived in Humble for a couple of years in the late 70's and early 80's and the Astros had a couple of good years. I think Art Howe was at 1st base and Jose Cruz (Cruuuuuuz!) Was in center. It was fun to go to the Astrodome for a game back then. I'm not much of a MLB fan but I always have watched the Stro's progress over the years.
This guy say's Dodgers in 5, pretty much says the Dodgers are better in every phase of the game. And they are rested and ready. Oh well, I guess we'll show up and try to make it look good!  Dodgers in 5
Terry, baseball likely is the most unpredictable of all the so-called major sports. How many times in just the past ten years have we seen "the best team on paper" not make it to the WS? It's all about matchups. I expect the series to be hard fought and close, perhaps 6-7 games. I wouldn't venture a guess on the winner. IMO, it's that close.
Baseball is the one sport in which you truly earn everything and the nothing can save you but yourself. I look forward to a good World Series.
 Dodger pitching controls the Strohs in Game #1. Now comes the hard part: can anybody beat Verlander? We'll find out tomorrow.
Because the Dodgers are on center stage and the odds-on favorite to win the series, Jim, I thought you might enjoy this article about 90 yr. old Carl Erskine, perhaps the nicest and most amazing professional sports figure I've had the privilege of knowing. I've been in his company several times in my adult life, and I've felt like a star struck kid every time. https://www.wthr.com/article/anderson-legend-erskine-recalls-five-world-series-pitching-for-dodgers
Kershaw made 1 mistake, but that was not enough. Astro hitters were bumfuzzled at the plate. Now it's up to Verlander and we need to get the bats going.
 :!:  Great article Sid! Carl Erskine was one of the heroes of my youth. I was 8 years-old when the Dodgers moved here in 1958 and I was hungry for real baseball. I had become a fan of Pacific Coast League teams like the Hollywood Stars, Los Angeles Angels and the Vancouver Mounties, so the official announcement of the Dodgers move was like a miracle. I had never heard of several of the players, like Don Demeter and Charley Neal, but everybody had heard of Duke Snider, Pee Wee Reese and Carl Erskine. They were the most fought over baseball cards among SoCal Little Leaguers and they're still our heroes today.
Verlander gives up a couple of gopher balls... Just like last night Dodgers pitcher makes 1 mistake Astros make 2. Looks like Dodgers are going to empty the BP to get the win.
Dodgers tie it in the bottom of the 10th. As Harry Potter said in the Tri-Wizard Tournament: "Some game."
 Astros take the lead back in the 11th. Those of you who went to bed are missing one of the greatest World Series games of all-time...
Vin Scully mentioned that Valenzuela won 21 games one year that included 20 complete games. I would wager that 98% of current major league pitchers will not throw 20 complete games in their career.
