We are still without internet at home and likely will be for at least 2-3 more weeks as they have to build a new tower. That is if they build it, if not who knows what we will do for a permanent service.

Meanwhile I will be coming to the library, where I am now, 2-3 times a week.

Hope all of your had a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

Bill what happened to your previous service?

I believe there are satelite based options, they are not great but would allow for email and internet browsing. I believe that they all have severe limitations as to amount you can download due to bandwidth restrictions. But might be better than nothing.

How is your cell service? If it's good enough you could get a cellular modem to hook up to your laptop, but you of course pay extra for the downloads.

Bill, I am moving to a very rural area in Alabama and my only option is a hotspot. Limited data but if you have cell phone coverage you can get internet. :(

Kp, I've run a business for years that just recently has the ability of using the internet via cell service. It's not the end (Matter of fact it's faster than the dial up I had) but the 300 kilobytes per second is adventurous I'll give you that much...

Not to get on too much of a backroom issue but our society, media, politicians and pundits easily talk on a daily basis about the impoverished Americans who are behind the times as they live on concrete, enjoy access to high speed internet and behold have a fire hydrant in their neighborhood. Meanwhile imagine the audacity of those who feel a disconnect from everyday society as they are labeled crackers, ignorant, and in-bred but can't make the cell phone work or have to wait for the morning fog to diminish before emailing out the payroll hours because the internet is down again ..Okay I got my point across...

The issue with cell phone internet is its slow and expensive and it seems everything is a PDF file that not only burns the limited bandwidth but is so slow.....And just think South beach the land of the Kardashians is only 2 1/2 hours southeast of our location....

Well here's the story. We live in a rural mountains area and our internet is wi fi from a tower that has been mounted on the roof of a house on a higher elevation in sight of our house.it is actually a relay from the main tower. Over time it has damaged the roof and has to be replaced ha an actual tower on he property. A permit is needed and the whole thing is complicated by the fact that the existing company has been sold to another promised and they have to be brought up to speed. We are hopeful it will be done in 2-3 weeks. I am familiar with the home in question with the tower as it belongs to my nephew. :)

I am getting better with using the phone which I am doing right now and the library is also an option and we do go to town several times a week.

Hopefully I will be able to stay in touch better.

Kp I think we are on the same page with our values. If a hot spot, phone of library are my options to live where I want then so be it. I love my mountain and community more than a fast network.

Bill, we just built a house in Titus Alabama about a mile from Lake Jordan on 7 acres of land mostly wooded. We are not close to anything and I love it. :D

Joe Sewell. Lowest strikeouts per at bat ratio and longest streak without a strikeout at the plate. He once went something like 110 games without a strikeout, although I can't be sure since we have a no google rule in effect.

Those are my kinda players. No strike outs. Constant pressure on the defense.

Corey got it. Sewell was a star at Alabama also. Played there and later coached there. The baseball stadium in Tuscaloosa is named after him and is known as "The Joe". The native son of Titus, Alabama, graduate of Wetumpka High School.
