I thought McGregor made a good accounting for himself. It's really sad to me to see how far off the knowledge of the sport has dropped for boxing fans. McGregor is no joke. He'd murder Mayweather in the octagon, but there's more refinement to boxing. The sweet sport takes its toll and McGregor found that out the hard way. At the same time, I don't think this was a banner day for boxing.
Just goes to show you that Boxing is completely more technical than that MMA crap. Conor had plenty of time to learn how somewhat box better than he showed, but decided that his left was all he needed. Might have wanted to train for the distance a little better than he did, probably why he fought the weight issue, and why his legs looked like used condoms come the 8th round. You could just see Mayweather weathering the storm, and then (I called it starting in the 5th round) the straight right hands starting pounding Conor. Superior boxing skills made the MMA guy look like a golden gloves rookie starting the 6th, and it doesn't help when you carry your best hand below the waist for the entire fight. I thought Conor had more power than he displayed. If he had taken on a Mayweather at the same age as he, Mcgregor woulda suffered a Arturo Gatti beating. I wish that the fight would have gone another round, and he could experience the sweet sciences savagery as compared to MMA.
I don't think MMA is crap. It's more technical in its own way. I am positive that if this is an MMA fight, it doesn't go 2 rounds. MMA requires more skills in more disciplines. You can't just be a boxer, or a grappler or a mixed martial arts guy. Still, boxing lives for another day.
