That's the last straw coach!!! I quit. In a more than Bizzare happening Sam Keller suddenly quit the ASU football team. He and Rudy Carpender were locked in a battle for #1, Sam won the starting job.....then he quit the team. I wonder what the real story is here? Oh just to make things really dicey this story says the guy who lost wants to quit also.... as Rick would say they don't call them the GunDevils for nuttin!

This has been a crazy one, with a lot of rumors. The one that seems most plausible to me is: Cooter names Keller his starter, thinking Carpenter will take it in stride since he's a soph and Keller's a senior. Carpenter starts making noises about transferring. The team goes to Cooter and tells him they want Carpenter. Cooter decides to throw Keller under the bus, figuring he'd rather have Carpenter if he can only have one of them. I've also read that Keller isn't as popular with the team as Carpenter, Keller committed a rules violation, Keller parties too much, Keller's secretly pregnant with Elvis' baby... Depending on how this plays out, Cooter could lose big-time credibility with the team, school and fans. Personally, I'm very upset for the Sun Gerbils :twisted:
Well Coach Koetter now says he made a mistake and he's named Rudy Carpender the Starter and told Sam Keller to consider his options. He did this after a sleepless night! I wonder if he stopped in at Madame See's it All's behind the Sand Dunes Bar in Tempe, she rolls drunks and tells fortunes! Sleep Deprived Coach Changes His Mind

Sam Keller to Nebraska? I've read that Keller's dad knows Callahan, and that the Keller family has already visited Lincoln and met with NU admissions.
It is a huge pickup. Keller sits and learns the offense this year and starts next year. The other guys who are just as new and not anywhere near as experienced sit for 2 years, which gives Callahan time to recruit a stud QB if Zac and Sam have great years in the Corn Coast Offense. Interesting tidbit on Halzel (sp?) The juco transfer from California. He didn't start his senior year in High School because he was beat out by a freshman named Jimmy Clausen. Terry
