I will concede this year. NY and St Pete will battle it out. Sox started season talking about a 7 man rotation. Now we have beckett and lester. ( wake, dice k on DL probably for year. Schmaltz, penny, buckholtz are junk men. We traded Masterson ( what an error) should have been bucky. LETS GO PATS!
Don't forget Lugo Jiffy!! He's tearing it up in St. Louie!! And he's found a home at SS for us!! Sometimes ya just need a change of scenery...
Whoa there huskerlad...Last time I looked, St Loouie was in National league!!! I could hit 250 in the NL!!!!!
JIF, Boston is 8-0 against NY this year. How can you give up? I'm sure the Yankees would settle for a split this weekend. We have our four best pitchers going. The WC is coming from the AL East... no question of that. The key is to keep Tampa Bay in 3rd place. We'll see. Should be an entertaining series. re: Lugo. He'll re-discover his pedigree any day now and Huskerfan will want to send him to Siberia. 8)
i saw a few yes..but those were the wall street babies who buy them out and dont give a damn if they go or not...I Think.
Sid..Sox are "cruising" the waiver wires as we speak. With Dice K and Wakefield still on DL, Sox have no choice but to use Schmaltz one more time ( Tuesday) at least. Hearing Bronson Arroyo might be available. Pitching only part of problem. SS Lowrie just went down again. Jaybay banged up, Drew never healthy, Baldelli back on DL. From a promising year to junk! jif
Smoltz has nothing left. He looks like Kevin Brown when the Yankees had him. A lot of the premium seats have been empty all year. They are priced at $2500.00 per seat per game. That eliminates 99.8% of fans. The unintended consequence is that the new Stadium is much quieter than the old because the closer seats are either empty or filled with old rich folks or celebrities who leave in the 4th inning. They were pretty easy on Papi last night... booed him the first time but were indifferent the rest of the night.
Seems fair when you take into account Pettit, Rodriquez and Giambi. Re: Booing I was very surprised during the Cards/Dodgers series last month that the usually fair and pleasant fans of St. Louis were relentless in their approach to Manny. He was booed on every plate appearance, play and when he took the field. I was pretty surprised. I would put St. Louis fans in the same pot as Nebraska fans
