This is kinda backroom related and kinda sports related so mods can put it wherever they want. I left it here because it actually has a sports angle. I don't know if any of you watch Duck Dynasty on A&E. It's about the only reality show that I've ever cared to watch more than 3 times. In one of the recent episodes the old patriarch of the family, Phil Robertson, was doing what all good grandfathers do (putting his grandchildren to work). The boys were saying they had to go review football film and he gave them a line about how creating nets helped his hand/eye coordination. Like most grand sons, you could tell the boys were giving the silly old man the eye roll but were staying out of respect. Then, he hit them with logic they seemed unable to refute. He mentioned that he was so good back in his day, he was the starting QB at La Tech and that Terry Bradshaw sat behind him. Me, being the cynic that I am, immediately went to check this out. Sure enough, it's true. The show makes a lot more sense now. I know the show gives the perception that they are basically swamp rednecks from Louisiana who almost lucked into a multi-million dollar duck call business.. The reality is the old man has a masters degree in Education and was once the star QB who actually loved hunting more than football, or pretty much anything. I had heard Bradshaw refer to 'the guy who started ahead of him being a great outdoors man' but I always figured it was just another one of Terry's crazy stories... But nope, it was all true. http://espn.go.com/blog/playbook/fandom/post/_/id/18740/how-good-was-phil-robertson-at-football
Like you Corey, I couldn't believe it either when I frst heard it. He gave up a pro football opportunity because it interfered with duck season. The only thing he has a higher passion for that duck hunting is his religious beliefs.
yeah that show is pretty fantastic. It's family friendly fun, and even I rarely like that. It's good stuff though. The animal rights people can't stand it. Oh well.
