Bill's been talking about the math involved in the BCS for awhile trying to coinvince MCG that the Gators are not a lock for the game.

Well today Tellshow crunched some numbers and he agree's with Bill. Here's what he came up with today.
If he's right and it is Texas/OU rematch. That would be the end of the BCS right there. Oh they'd play the game they would have to, but the public outcry would be incredible and they would be forced to do something. Maybe all involved would tear up the BCS contract and go to a playoff format next year.

Thanks Terry, you know it's strange we haven't heard from MCG on this topic after this weekend.

Another observation, the Georgia Bulldawgs may have found a way to keep the Gators out of the Championship game, if we win out, by losing and hurting out SOS badly.

Anyway you are truly a man of principal. It's hard to say your team shouldn't be there but you are saying it! That's why you are so respected around here. That's a compliment.

What of course there are still things that could happen, not the least of which the top ranked Alabama team has no intention of losing their game to us, Missouri may play the game of their life and beat Oklahoma.

And if none of that happens enough people who don't want to see the rematch may vote in a way that it doesn't happen.

USC got screwed in 2003 and it may happen again this year. I hope you are right that we move to that playoff situation.

Actually in football either a 4, 6 or 8 team playoff should be sufficient to get all the teams that really have a chance in the running.

Think we will hear from MCG?

By the way, I think Jif has sit down this time, used his computer and his brain and came to a very logical conclusion!

Back to the BCS. I've said for years the computers are not as good as the voters in the two polls. I still believe that.
In one or more of the computers this year would have us believe

    • The ACC is the strongest conference
USC is only the 10th best team in the land
Texas Tech is the 3rd best team
Ohio State with 2 losses is better than Penn State who beat them
I believe at least one also has Ohio State ahead of USC
Utah is ahead of Florida in most of the computer polls (this one has some validity but???)
James Madison is in the top 35
Boise State is the 7th best team
Ball State is the 11 best team
Ahead of Cincy which is 12 best
Boise State is the 6th best team
      Utah is number 2

I could find more but you get my drift, on such is our BCS Championship game going to be based.

By the way, I am sure that some of you will agree with some of the above, but in the over all picture most are pretty suspect.

Huskerman you really called it except for who won late.

Great game, the 11 point differential is deceptive. Either team could have won that game until we made the last drive.

Now Tebow has led a comeback in the 4th quarter.

I'm a happy camper right now.

    Bill,
You should be happy. No penalties, no turnovers, good defense, good offense. You beat a very good team to today with a solid effort. It doesn't get any better than that. I hope you win you your next game too.

As I said in the other topic kp, thanks a million and you are also describing your team except that the Gators wer lucky enough to come out on top today.

You know out of 18 SEC Championship games we've met each other 6 times. I think we will be meeting again.

And as Saban gets all his own players Alabama should get even better. Which is scary.

Was out of town this week not returning till Thurs. night.

In any event the logic that doesn't hold is that no way Texas is ahead of Florida in any poll except somehow the computers....maybe.

Gary Danielson said it well when he said after the Florida win that if the computers kept UF out of the game and somehow pulled that off he wouldn't bother to watch the title game.

    I agree.

Florida toughed it out over a surprisingly good Alabama team ( surprised me anyway) and the Gators did it without Percy Harvin which would be the same as Bama going without Julio Jones.

Here is what Harvin meant to the Gator attack:

"During the regular season, Harvin was the team's top receiver with 35 catches for 595 yards and seven touchdowns. He also was second on the team in rushing with 543 yards, scoring nine TDs on the ground."

UF earned the respect of the Harris voters and the coaches today....big time and that sure to be #1 ranking in both will carry UF to the title game.
