    Big weekend, some startling outcomes.

    1. Gators badly beaten by Alabama, they might lose again even though they don't face anybody in Alabama's class. The Gator offense just hasn't adjusted yet to life after Tebow, which puts tremendous pressure on the defense, which in UF's case is extremely talented. BTW I thought this was a rebuilding year for the 'bama defense and that the offense would have to carry them.

    2. LSU escapes with the win, inspite of dumb and dumber clock management by Les 'the hat' Miles.

    3. Stanford rolled by Oregon. This one really suprised me, not so much that Stanford lost but that Oregon just killed them. Ducks spotted them 21 points just for the fun of it I guess, but after that Ducks were unstopable. Hard to imagine this is a Duck team that got steam rolled by Ohio State in the Rose Bowl last year, and then lost their top player to stupidity and criminal activity. Ducks right now look to me to be #2.

Another observation, Andrew Luck besides being a great QB with a terrific future is a really nice guy. After the ND game he was chatting up the Irish players, when he ran into the ND band during the game he made sure the clarinet player was ok before he went back on the field. After the Oregon loss he was the same way, being nice to everyone.

    4. Texas still has no offense. Texas fans trying to restart FireMackBrown.com :) Seriously they aren't but FireGregDavis.Com is a real possibilty.

    5. Denard Robinson has another monster day at the office. That guy is the most dynamic player to have played in college football in at least the last 10 years. He is a one man gang on offense. If he stays healthy and continues to put up these numbers he will win the Heisman Trophy and save Rich Rodrigues job, the latter more difficult than the former! :)

    6. Ohio State...just keeps humming along ...not esp pretty but humming never the less.

    7. B10? How good this year? Iowa, MSU, UM, tOSU, NU, Wisconsin, Penn State....all pretty good teams this year. Is this the best the B10 has been in awhile?

    8. MSU...another win without Mark Dantonio, I'm starting to suspect that MSU MD's are doing something to him to keep him in crisis!! :)

    9. Has 1 player ever done so much for both the winning and losing teams as Jerrod Johnson did Thursday night? I mean he accounted for all of the A&M points and most of the Ok State points. Never seen anything like it.

    10. Irish....never has a victory been met with such derision as the ND victory over BC. Reading most internet sites you'd have thought we lost by 18 points rather than won by 18 points. Granted even to me it didn't feel like a big win, given that BC had a true freshman at QB and no speed or talent (according to announcers on ESPN) at WR. It's not just Krebs who doesn't like Kelly yelling at players, it's a topic of much conversation on ND boards. I'm ok with it myself.

    11. Polls. Oregon jumped Boise State in the polls, not suprising. Oregon beat the best Stanford team in a generation with a QB who's only been exceeded by John Elway. While Boise State beat somebody, nobody is sure just who they beat though. This will be the Bronco's and TCU's problem all year, they just don't have any opponents who are going to give them a boost like Oregon does, or like Ohio State does. They will have to continue to win and just hope that the BCS conference schools knock each other off so that they are the lone undefeated team(s).

    12. South Carolina just lost a case to Southern Cal over the use of SC on caps, I'm expecting them to take it out on their next opponent. BTW, does Steve Spurrier still yell at his players on the sideline? Maybe Brian Kelly watched a lot of SOS tapes when he was comming up as a coach, he does wear a visor you know! :)

    13. Gator Bills poor performance at the Sr. Games have left his fans here on the Skybox wondering about his future as a top bowler. Some are saying it takes more time to recover from his injury and subsequent surgery, some have questioned his workout regimen...too many chocolate chip cookies according to one source. This reporter always feels like Gator Bill gives his best and that he'll back sooner rather than later, even if kp won't give him 9 points! :)

With TP going down and clearly hobbled alongside the injury ward that is our defense - we will have have two true freshman playing major roles on D - one starting - this is a crippled Buckeye team....just hoping we can hang on for dear life.

I suspect Bill just didn't give his best in this one and for mysterious reasons. He just wasn't focused on the prize. :D 8)

Maybe next time he will really bring it and get his clock cleaned worse.

I'm remiss in not observing that Tommy Tubberville is in the process of killing the old Pirates offense. They are not nearly as exciting or explosive as they were under the Pirate. The Pirate would have hung 70 on Iowa State this past weekend. I predict that Tubberville will last 3 years at best and have Tech at the bottom of the B12. While Art Briles will have Baylor on the rise and Tech will note and fire Tubesteak and give Briles a big contract.

    Re: Kelly

I admit I am in the minority with my opinion of his yelling. I just feel that the lockeroom or the practice field is the place for that. In the heat of battle it can be unnerving.

Remember this. When a dog barks it startles you. When a dog barks all the time its just an annoyance.

Aw c'mon! I just sobbered up after that debacle, and now you've got me heading back to the bottle!

    RE: Tubberville at Tech.

    I TOLD YA SO!
Tech will never recruit elite players... so Tubberville won't be able to field the kind of defense he needs, and without a fast-break offense, he won't be able to keep up...with the Iowa St's of the league.

If I have a future as a top bowler it will be my first.

Hey, some are telling me it's my age. :)

Others tell me I was never that good anyway. :)

Those chocolate chip cookies are always good.

I have faith I can still improve.

Kp, will that 9 points still be available if we both make the SEC Championship? If so I will take it!

    :D

Well after playing three straight away games at Ohio St, Pittsburgh and then Clemson Miami finds itself at home for the first time in a month to play Florida St in prime time...If we can perform against FSU and not throw interceptions we might just come out of the gauntlet at 4-1 and deserving as the state's top-ranked team in The Associated Press poll. The first time since Dec. 4, 2005.

George, my son, the former ND walk-on under Holtz, agrees with you. I'm not sure where I stand on the topic. I tend to lean toward being OK with it.

All I can say is welcome to the fish bowl that the head coach at ND lives in Brian Kelly!!

Does anybody remember the media or fans getting caught up in whether or not Brian Kelly yells too much at his players on the sideline when he was at UC, CMU, or GVSU? I seriously doubt that he just picked up this habit this fall at ND. Some have said that the players will tune him out, that their developement will be affected, yet it didn't seem to affect the players at GVSU or CMU or UC where at each of those stops he developed players into champions and had those schools football teams playing at historic levels before he left for the next challenge.

But then he didn't have as many eyes on him as he does at ND, both fans and media.

Here's an article from the Sun Times....

    Kelly needs to calm down

The writer doesn't like Kelly's approach, and questions whether or not it can work over a long period. But ignores that Kelly has been coaching a long time and it's not like he has been a job hopper moving on before he wears out the team and himself. He was at GVSU for a pretty good run before moving on the CMU where he didn't stay as long before moving to UC where again he didn't stay long, but he made things happen and the players seemed to develope and get with his program.

I don't believe in giving points. Va Tech gave points to James Madison, Texas gave points to Oklahoma, to Hell with giving points. I will take 1 point wins and move on. Y'all are on your own.

I haven't watched Notre Dame much this year because either the Gators or another SEC I am interested in seems to be on at the same time.

As to coaches yelling, seems pretty much standard operating procedure to me. What's the big deal?
