1. Well the great Terrelle Pryor controversy should be settled down a little bit by the dominating performance by the Buckeyes this weekend. Pryor had a terrific game. After a week off next week vs NMSU the Bucks will get to the games that will determine everything for them at Penn State then Iowa at home. The whole season comes down to those 2 games. They might not be in the drivers seat in the B10 but they've got their hands on the wheel. 2. UF defense is the story of the season, everybody talks about Tim Tebow and rightfully so he's a great player. But this team is undefeated because of the defense. The UF offense just doesn't look great right now, MSU is not a good defense, they were torched by Houston a couple of weeks ago. But that UF defense just would not let the Gators lose. I think it'll be enough for the Gators to be in the SECCG. 3. Alabama. I've said it a couple of times, their QB who looked great early in the season is really struggling right now. They have a great defense, they have a great RB, question is will that be enough to get them by LSU this week? It is at home. 4. Tenn. We still don't know for sure about Lane Kiffin as a HC, we know he's a terrific recruiter. But we do know about Monte Kiffin, he has really put together an excellent defense. I don't know what young talent is in the pipeline for the Vols on defense but you know they are going to be well coached and developed. 5. Notre Dame. It was another nail biter to the end, this team is starting to remind me of that '99 team with Matt Lovecchio at QB. They won a lot of games just like we are now. Except you can't compare Lovecchio to Clausen. Irish are back in the top 25 and I do believe we can win out from here, how high that will allow us to rise is not clear. We do have a potential Marquee type matchup with Pitt on Nov 14. If Pitt keeps winning this will be a huge game for both teams. 6. Texas A&M....Just WOW. Looking at the stats 300+ yds rushing. Outstanding. Welcome back from the brink Aggies. 7. Texas. Best game of the year for the Longhorns. Our offense came out and dominated from the 1st possession. Colt McCoy looked like the same guy we saw last year. Strong senior leadership I think takes this team the rest of the way. Colt sort of fell out of the Heisman race but if he can finish the season with games like he had last night, he'll win the Heisman. 8. Neb. What happened to those guys. AJ was worried about the pass defense vs Tech and turns out he was right. But Iowa State in Lincoln? That was a brutal loss. 9. Michigan. Just over matched vs an experienced senior led team like Penn State. I do think though that they will most likely finish 7-5, no worse than 6-6 so a bowl game will be in the future for UM. Year two much better than year 1. Looks like Year 3 should be the breakout year. I must also add that I have been hearing rumours that Lloyd Carr still does not talk to Rodriguez. 10. Heisman: Only movement this weekend was Colt McCoy back into the mix. Tebow probably still leads, Jimmy Clausen in the mix, Mark Ingram stock was rapidly rising most likely still in the Mix. Tony Pike is out, Sam Bradford is out, Jahvid Best is out, the guy who should be in the mix till the end is Case Keenum of Houston. He will far out distance McCoy, Tebow and Clausen in the pure stats department. But has no big games to get voters excited from here on out. 11. TCU Horned Frogs look to me to be the class of the BCS Busters, I think their schedule and visiblity will help them to pass Boise State for the guaranteed bid if they remain undefeated. 12. Cincy Brian Kelly continues to do amazing things. He loses his Heisman Candidate QB, plugs in an Ohio kid who didn't generate much interest as a QB during recruiting and wins again..BIG. If they run the table there will be some arguments again on an undefeated team being left out of the NC game. Make no mistake they aren't jumping Texas or the SEC champion in the BCS unless those teams lose games. But like the Auburn controversy a couple of years ago. The talking heads will milk this 24/7. Then throw in a possibly undefeated TCU and Boise State oh MY...Scott88 will be in nervana with the controversy created. 13. Iowa I thought they were done. But they don't apparently start playing till the 4th Qtr. Game with OSU is huge for both teams. What if they go undefeated What if the season ends with an undefeated Big East, SEC, B12, Mtn West, WAC and B10 champion. Whoa boy.
Well done as usual TOK......Pryor saga will continue but certainly with much less volume than last week. With all due respect to a great player and wonderful young man, I can't believe Tebow is the lead in the Heisman race......he has fewer TD passes than Pryor and fewer TD runs. It's hard to imagine Tebow - with less productivity than a QB that many believe should be moved to WR - is in the lead with respect to the Heisman......I know he was injured and all, but surely there are more deserving candidates this year....
Yeah I sort of agree, but Tebow has just captured the fascination of the media by the way he plays, his character and leadership. You know sometimes it is mainly about Stats. Ty Detmer, Andre Ware and a few other come to mind. Sometimes the media just falls in love with a player like they did with Eric Crouch, a great player no doubt but who really didn't have great stats as a QB. He did however score a lot of TD's being the triggerman in a pretty good Cornhusker offense. I think others can overcome Tim, but they will have to do it by not just having better stats they will have to have extraordianary stats. Case Keenum might have those stats. The Bama RB if he runs for a lot of yard in leading the Tide to the NC game might do it. Sam Bradford and Colt McCoy did it last year by out stating Tim and playing for Big Time programs and having lots of big time games. That's what it'll take. I think Colt is the player best positioned right now to do that, Jimmy Clausen is in the mix and will have better stats maybe but I'm not sure he'll have the big games down the stretch to pull it off.
I'd have Colt in the lead, Clausen second and Ingram a close third....Jimmy doesn't have the big marquee games down the stretch that will have alot of viewers unlike his nearest competitors and that will spell doom for him if one of the other guys steps up big.......
I have to agree with BuckeyeT as much as I admire Tebow for his leadership and character as a young man I just don't see where he is the best college football player in the nation. He seems to press when the pressure is on and is very predictable in the fact that he is going to be the one to carry the ball because he wants to "will" his way to a first down or touchdown. Add this to the fact that Percy Harvin is tremendously missed this season and we see a much different offense than what we witnessed last season. But as Terry testified, the fascination of the media on Tebow tends to overlook "my interpretation" of what a heisman trophy winner is... Oh by the way great coaching job by Clemson in its win over Miami, our coaches were outshined yesterday... RC
Good catch on the Miami/Clemson game. I didn't think Clemson had a snow balls chance on the road at Miami. But they did win in a big shootout. The thing that is significant about that is that it puts Ga.Tech in the drivers seat in the Coastal Division of the ACC. They only have Wake and Duke left and should be heavily favored in both of those, while Va.Tech who they own the tie breaker with has 4 ACC games left, while they will be favored in all of them they can't get past Ga.Tech if they beat Duke and Wake. Right now I guess you have to give the edge to Clemson they beat B.C. So the bottom line is that it's very likely that in his 2nd year Paul Johnson will take Ga. Tech to the Orange Bowl....not bad. I can't see another ACC team getting a BCS Bowl invite. I could see a Miami/Notre Dame Gator Bowl though.
Ironic you had us at # 8 on your list Doc. That's exactly how many turnovers we gave them. 4 of them, count 'em....4 inside their 10 yard line. Watson's WCO is being questioned hard this week. There seems to be quite of bit of confussion among the receivers this year to go with a suspect running game. If the offense is that hard to learn, why really are you trying to implement it? During the 3rd qtr, we ran a whole possesion between the tackles and were really knocking them off the ball. You start doing that and the play action starts working again in theory right? Well that series ended by one of those redzone fumbles I told ya about, and we were only down by 2 pts, but never went back to what was working which was the run. I don't get it. The Defense did what they had to do to win. I'm convinced that it's still an Offensive hangover from the shitty recruiting that BC did, to include retaining Watson. He was one of the guys that Pelini didn't let go for whatever reason. We have a the future sitting on the bench in Green, but both coaches say he isn't ready yet. We'll see how recruiting pans out. Bo said that we were broke and that it was a process to be able to fix it. I'll buy that, however, progress needs to start next year. I'll write this year off as Sophmore blues.

Good for ISU. For a program that hasn't had to many shining moments in their programs existence, I'm glad they had their moment of triumph and accomplishment. All teams need to have those moments...but should learn to apply a certain level of modesty to it, especially since you haven't done it since the Carter administration...and ESPECIALLY after you were given 8 F-----G TURNOVERS 4 OF WHICH WERE IN THE F#%K&@G RED ZONE INSIDE THE 10 YARD LINE!! My hat's off to the Cyclones.
Actually you're correct, what's worse is after a huge emotional road win at Lincoln they now have to go down to College Station on Ring Day to play the re-energized Ag's. At halftime of the game they will be honoring the National Championship Golf Team and Matt will get his National Championship Ring.
That is so cool. Congrats again to the Ags and Matt. BTW, when he gets a chance, have him call Taylor one day and explain to him what he needs to do to reach Matts level. He's 14 now, I'm sure he'll get the drift. You got my number Doc.
Terry, thanks for posting the Iowa State celebration. It was fun to watch. Football is the best game to win and the worse one to lose. PJ in Jersey
He's one very, very sharp young man. He's being raised right by a tough, no nonsense Marine who obviously is a great dad. Terry, congratulations to Matt!
