Was a little under the weather yesterday....but better late than never. 1. Bama/LSU continue heading for the big showdown. Both started a little slow but in the end quashed their opponents with ease. 2. Texas....well Mack Browns perfect record after the OU game is now gone. He was 13-0 the week following the OU game (win or lose). I was less impressed with the OSU offense in this game than previously. I really expected them to put up 50+. So 38 is a win. Texas offense shows the effects of not having an experienced QB. David Ash has potential, so maybe he'll grow up over the remainder of the season. 3. Fla/Auburn. Again you can see the problems you have with freshmen QB's, no matter how highly ranked they are. Jeff Driskell and the Brissett kid both look to have good futures...but just not right now. Both defenses though really got after it. 4. USC/CAL ..the Thursday night game. Played in a baseball stadium, looked odd, the annoucners kept saying packed crowd but he must have been looking at a different crowd. That CAL qB is awful. USC has some trouble getting started but in the end won going away. Barkley is an excellent QB, with very good recievers and TE's. Going to be a problem for ND. 5. Georgia/Vandy...only caught the post game ruckus...Richt says he hopes the SEC lets it slide. Vandy surprisingly competitive. 6. Ohio State...again young QB. Didn't see the game, but when you only complete 1 pass and attempt on 4 that tells you about the coaching staff's confidence in the young QB. But you know, the Buckeyes could end up doing pretty well. They will get abused by Wisconsin, but could win the rest of their games...playing conservative on offense and go get'em defense. 7. Michigan. The Good news for Bobda who feared that D'Antonio would leave MSU for Ohio State, is that D'Antonio has signed a new deal with MSU designed to keep him there for life. hmmmmm given 4 straight...maybe that's not the good news. Better news would be D'Antonio taking the Bears job! Bad news is that besides the loss, their best player aka Shoelaces, didn't finish the game. This was a problem last year as well. Al Borges said he realized that he couldn't ride Robinson like the previous staff. But still when he's not in there they don't have much going for them on offense. 8. Lions/49'ners ....Again I only saw the post game fight between the coaches. Looks like Detroit has a coach who won't take that crap off of Harbaugh. 9. Mergers...Boise Still waiting for Big East, while their current conference has merged for football with CUSA. Personally I think they should pull the Big East autobid, and have more at large bids. Finish in the top 14 and you get consideration as an at large. 10. John Goodman (ND punt returner) who has the NCAA record for fair catches is awaiting a phone call from Will Muschamp about maybe making a move to UF to handle the Fair Catch duties!
Charlie Weis has produced 27 points..... in the last three games.... total. I hope he is renting in Gainesville because it will be tough to sell his house in a hurry in this economy. 8)
It took 1 full year for Charlie to get Jimmy Clausen functional at QB, and a 2nd year for Clausen to get comfortable, by his 3rd year Clausen was really ready to roll, had an excellent year and would have been even better if he hadn't had that foot injury and an actual defense on his side. That's going to be Charlies problem going forward with the Gators...those young QB's just won't be able to absorb Charlies offense. Going to be rough on Charlie and the Gator offense the rest of the year.
Harbaugh is a jerk. When he played for the Colts, his play and his magnetic smile won me over. When he was at Staford, I realized that the smile masks an overly aggressive, bullcrap personality. This won't be his last run-in in the NFL. (Note the laughing face  ). It's funny you say that. I watched the game and thought to myself, at least Goodman catches and holds onto the punts (except once, of course).
You could get a break since you have a bye week while Wisc plays the #1 defense in Michigan State this weekend. They might be a little beat up, literally! Right now Wisc is in a position where not only do they need to win out to get to the BCS championshp game, they need to win out impressively to make their way past those teams in front of them in the BCS standings. Like OU, I believe that if they can lat 60 points on you they will.
Damn......looks like the Buckeyes are playing their way right out of a Gator Bowl date with Florida so now the Gators will get.....Iowa probably......ho hum.

#10, after that last game it sure looks like we could use some help in the fielding punts department. MCG, Gators need to win some more games before thinking we might go to the Gator Bowl. 6 - 6 looks like a real possibility right now with a 5 - 7 possible. Of course we might also be 7 -5. Nice write up Terry.
Beat the Palladins and Commodores.......that's right....you heard me..... ....and the Gators are off to their namesake Bowl game. Come on Buckeyes....surely you can blow another game or two and get down to our level.....won't ya? 8)
Doesn't take highly rated teams but the bowl itself is on a Jan. 2nd line-up ( ususally the 1st ) and matches with the Big 10 ( ie. Michigan last year ) It's about where UF looks to be headed right now.
8) I loved Harbaugh when he was at Stanford. He tortured and abused Petey Carroll at USC, then crowed about it to anyone who would listen...
I forgot to mention the impressive start to the season for Kansas State. They were an excellent team in Bill Synders first tour as coach and when he retired they declined. Now that he's back on the sidelines they are doing well again. While I always objected to his scheduling philosophy of non-conference patsies, and I'm talking really big time patisies not just garden variety ones, I have to give him his props for obviously being an excellent coach. It's not like KState has some history of being great before he arrived and it's not like they are a recruiting juggernaut.
One of the most prolonged weekends of sports misery that I can remember. Tigers get thumped by the Rangers. Little thug brother puts another beat down on us with Gholson nearly succeeding in twisting Denard’s head from his torso along with attempting to break a lineman' arm with a judo move and later punching him; the Lions head coach goes batshit crazy in response to Harbaugh being Harbaugh and the Cardinals ended up creaming the Brewers. Hoke and the team handled themselves well in the post-game press conference but the Spartys will not be meeting as gentlemanly a foe next week as Bielema is not known to be the type to turn the other check when the opposition is bending the rules. Last year, he ordered one of his linemen to chop block Mike Martin because Martin was repeatedly holding Wisconisn linemen as they attempted to sweep block and succeeded in injuring Martin. Next Saturday night in East Lansing will not be played under Marquis of Queensberry’s rules. My guess is the over/under number for unsportsmanlike conduct fouls will be 10 Michigan is still suffering from RR’s recruiting of speed over size as State just beat the snot out of us on both sides of the ball; And I am still glad D'Antonio stayed at MSU rather than go to OSU simply because the talent pool he could tap into as a Buckeyes head coach is so much deeper than what he can tap into at State. I think Hoke will build a program that will return things to normal in the State soon. But, you can guage my fatalism when in comes to all things Ohio by simply comparing the confidence points I gave them when picking them to beat Illinois versus BT's selection BT look at things, including his boys, objectively. I see guys running around on the field in scarlet and gray and start reaching for Jim Beam and sleeping pills.
And I was thinking of TOK when watching JoePa being interviewed after the Purdue game and talking about getting his team ready to "travel to Chicago next week and playing againt a well coached team". Coach Stagg and his U of C Maroons will be waiting for then on the Midway.
The upcoming match between, the cheese juggernaut from Madison and the Thugs from E.Lansing will be interesting. Cheese guys played the 131st rated schedule so far, while Thugs have played the 84th rated schedule. Of course Az at 1-5 has played the toughest schedule so far...got their coach fired for doing so most likely!
