I've been down low with the flu so spent a lot of time on the couch watching football.

    1. Early game ND/Pitt. Tough win for the Irish, lots of criticism headed our way mostly deserved. As Krebs says a win is not really a win in college football. With no playoff it's counts how you look winning to move up in the polls. ND defense is good getting better though. Offense still a work in progress.

    2. TAMU/OSU. This was a great B12 vs SEC matchup, and B12 team won! Aggies looked like they were going to run OSU out of the stadium in the 1st half only to come out in the 2nd half and play like the Aggies of old, bad defense and bad offense. Tannehill was awful in the 2nd half as was the A&M defense. I have to wonder if the Aggies can get back together for the Ark game in Cowboyland.

    3. Watched a little of Fla/UK game and UK was as expected an awful team. The Gators did whatever they wanted. I even noticed that Charlie Jr is on the sidelines with a headset, something he did when Charlie was at ND as well. Gator offense powered by Charlie Weis looks outstanding, John Brantley owes Charlie big time for resurrecting his career. Gator defense looks tough as well. Bama up next ...we'll see.

    4. LSU/WVU great atmosphere, LSU clearly the better team, but WVU hung in there with them pretty well. that #7 for LSU great player and the LSU punter might be the best punter in college football...he's from Australia and a former Australian Rules football player. I predict a lot of teams will be scouting for punters down there in the future.

    5. ASU/USC The Lane Kiffin effect continues on the Trojans, he's even coached Matt Barkley into looking ordinary.

    6. Temple/MD....are you kidding me? The Owls hammered MD, and that after a week when they really should have beaten Penn State at Happy Valley. Are these Owls for real?

    7. Ga.Tech....Paul Johnson looks like maybe he has his best team, the usual triple option running game but he has a QB now who is good enough throwing the ball that you have to account for that or he'll burn you. Ga.Tech defense however looks ordinary. That's been his downfall and he hired the old UVA head coach and Parcells disciple Al Groh to fix that...doesn't look like it's fixed yet.

    8. FSU...Sheep in wolfs clothing.

    9. KState/Miami....yikes what an ending, TD Miami!! They win...whoops no TD Miami they lose. I was shocked that KSTate was able to beat Miami at Miami to tell you the truth.

    10. Bama...what can you say, very solid win over a good opponent. Bama has UF up next....Charlie Weis offense has only 1 win vs SEC opponent we'll see!

    11. Oklahoma...I'm not sure they are really #1, top 5 sure, but either Alabama or LSU is #1.

    12. Shoelaces (Denard Robinson) showed again he's the most exciting player in college football and UM seems to be drifting back towards the RR style of offense to let him show it. Question is can he hold up for the whole season? He is a one man team.

    13. Robt Griffin III is the next most exciting player in college football but you never hear of him becasue he plays for Baylor. But he's something else.

    14. Wisconsin had to have struck a deal with the devil to have Russell Wilson drop into their laps. This might be the best Wisc team in a very long time. Prediction, they will beat the Huskers by 21 points or more, Black Helmets or not!

    15. Boise State...another win. ho hum.

    16. Screw job of the day. The Toledo Rockets got screwed by the refs, they called a 'Cuse Xtra point good when it wasn't and allowed the game to go into OT where they lost when they should have won 30-29

Thanks, Terry. I like your analysis. I usually learn something I didn't know. This week it was the Toledo screwing, which I did not read about anywhere else.

About that Syracuse game, it was bad enough that the on field officials blew the call but it was so obvious on replay that you have to wonder if it was just a bad mistake or far worse. Maybe they were worried about the future of the Big East and are auditioning for the Big Ten.

Why the F would the replay official look at the sideline view? There was no question that the kick went over the bar. The behind the kicker view is the only logical one. The Big East explaination is horseshit and if it's true that replay official should never work another game.

It's bad enough when the refs can't see the most important part of an Extra Point kick, whether or not it goes through the uprights. It's near criminal when the REPLAY OFFICIAL says there's not enough video evidence to correct the call. When one of the frames CLEARLY shows the ball passes in FRONT of the left upright, then I gotta question how that money got in your pocket.

I give up. I can see why you are such a successful attorney. You remind me of my college roommate, also a successful attorney in Chicago. You both are RELENTLESS.

Re: the Toled-Syracuse game, I see that Toledo wants the Syracuse win vacated.

MAC Asks Big East to Vacate Syracuse Victory

It's no surprise that the Big East declined and the Syracuse coach backed the decision.

I saw that as well and wondered. I mean they did go back and alter the score of the USC/Utah game after the fact, but that didn't change the winner only who beat the spread in Vegas.

It would however be unprecedented for a football games outcome to be changed after the final gun goes off.

On further review, I assume that a side view would be useful if it were from the near side ie. the one the kick missed on. Such of view would have shown that the upright never hid the ball as it passed therefore the kick was outside it.
It's customary for the visiting team to provide officials (some exceptions such as ND at Mich. for years.) The MAC has officials. Wonder why they used BE refs. BTW heard on the radio this AM that the line was 'Cuse by 2 1/2. Hmmmm!

I had not signed onto Jo Co's and Corey's assertion that M's offensive coordinator, Al Borges, is a wizard. However, I recently read that Al's 82- year-old father runs an online physical-fitness business and corresponds with those on the internet who disagree with his son's attempts to transform Denard into a prototypical West Coast QB. Here is an actual picture of Al's Dad at age 79.

Mr. Borges, in case you are reading this, your son is doing a great job...
