Well we don't have nearly as many undefeated teams now, but then we all knew that we would get to this point! 1. LSU is the unanimous #1 and deservingly so, they have an awesome defense and they have played a tough schedule including a win over Oregon that wasn't really as close as the final score. Can they be beat, of course they can, nobody thought the Patriots could be beat the year they were undefeated going to the Super Bowl. So we'll see. 2. OKlahoma State just destroyed Texas Tech, Tommy Tubberville has gotten slobber knocked in his last 3 games, each one worse than the last I wonder what the heck is going on there. I really hope OK State goes undefeated for several reasons, no so much that I think they will beat LSU but I think it would be great drama, and if there are only 2 undefeaed (can't count the Houston Cougars) left then the BCSCG is not controversial. If OK. State loses then we have a slew of 1 loss teams, 2 of which (assuming the current group stays 1 loss) have already lost to LSU so we'd have a rematch, don't like that. So we'll see, it'll go down to that last weekend ...exciting for sure. 3. Boise State, I don't think even if they were undefeated they would have been able to slip ahead of 1 loss Alabama and 1 loss Oregon would probably have jumped them if they won out anyway. Great program, well coached, and I have no problem with them being in a BCS bowl again this year. 4. Texas....anybody have a QB they can spare us? That was an ugly loss to Missouri. We have been getting by on our running game but now our top 3 RB's are out and our 2 QB's can't hit the broad side of a barn when they throw it. 5 points and 2 of those on a safety. That's just bad. The RB injuries and the QB problems put the rest of the season in jeporady. I don't know if we can beat KSU, A&M, and Baylor and at one point I thought we had a decent shot at winning out, but now I don't know. How does a team that pretty much gets the pick of the QB's in the State of Texas end up with no QB's? 5. Kansas State/ Texas A&M....I have no words to decribe A&M's problems, but I do have words for KSU and it's Wow...not so much that those guys are great but man that is a team that just keeps coming at you and their QB Colin Klein is a hoss running the ball and he can throw pretty well also. Can't say enough about the job Bill Synder has done there after having to come back out of retirement to save them again. 6. Wazzu beats ASU? Are you kidding me? Erickison must be back on the sauce. The Sun Devils looked to be on a good run only losing to Oregon in the 12Pac before the inexplicable loss to UCLA and now with all due respect to Kes, to Wazzu. I actually picked UCLA in the pick'em because I thought their win over ASU was significant and well Utah wasn't exactly a scary team..maybe the altitude and the snow was a problem for the beach boys! 7. Big Ten, it looks like Michigan State has edge in the Legends with a tie breaker over Michigan. I thought OSU would actually make a run and win the Leaders, but while PSU has the lead I don't think they will win another game and that would put Wisconsin in the Champ game with MSU. The Michigan/Ohio State game should be interesting. If the Buckeyes are having problems on defense with tackling Denard Robinson is not the guy you want to face and while I don't think UM has a great defense they might have enough to handle a freshman QB with problems throwing the ball consistently. No doubt UM's best chance in awhile. 8. ACC...???? ND played Wake at their place and they seemed like a solid well coached team but not a great team. Yet they went to Clemson and got their offense untracked against the Clemson defense, so again I don't think Clemson is a really great team, very good offense so so defense. Va.Tech looked good vs Ga. Tech I wonder if they'll have the usual half empty stadium for the ACCCG? 9. Big 12...it all comes down to Bedlam in Stillwater. OU is hurt a lot by the loss of Ryan Broyles one of the best WR in college football. Still should be a light show on offense. The rest of us are just running out the string. 10. Irish...solid outing against MD, with a weak BC team up next. Whole season really comes down to that Stanford game even though they've lost now to Oregon. 9-3 and the faithful are pretty happy and wondering what might have been, 8-4 and we trudge off to the CAP 1 Bowl. 11. Houston Cougars...whoooo hoooo...can they hold it together and finish undefeated? Even if they do I wonder if any BCS bowl will chose them unless they have no other choice? 12. Penn State, already hashed over and over. But just an observation. It seems that if you are not a PSU fan you probably have no problem asking why Joe didn't do more and saying that trumps anything else he's done in his career. But PSU fans still love Joe, and it's very clear that they don't want him to have any real culpability for what happened. They want to believe Joe just didn't know what Sandusky did or was doing and they don't want to believe that McQueary actually told Joe what he saw. They are more comfortable with the horseplay in the showers that made him feel uncomfortable angle. I am going with Barry Switzers observation that those guys all lived together like family for a long time and you can't tell me that they didn't know that there was something wrong with Sandusky, you can't tell me that McQueary after seeing what he saw in the showers back in 2002 never told another soul on the staff after he told Joe what he saw (either rape of a 10y/o or the horseplay horseshit) Joe has a high powered lawyer and he's going to need it.
I didn't get to watch more than about a half hour yesterday, since I ended up spending most of the weekend painting. I did watch the beginnings of the OSU beatdown on TT. What's happened to that high-flying TT offense the last two weeks?? I can see losing 66-35 with that offense, but OSU shut them down! 4. Texas... A. Maybe you should start recruiting WRs? 6. Wazzu beats ASU? Wow, after our train was derailed the last couple weeks, I had given up hope. Glad to see the team didn't! 11. Houston Cougars...good run. Guess they can play against the Big East and show that how poor that conference really is.
Like Kes, I didn't get to watch much this week so I defer to Terry's wisdom. Neither do we. Even two weeks ago, I would have said Sherman's scalp was as safe as can be, but meltdown after meltdown has caught the attention of everyone. If we do lose to Texas... I'm not sure he will be with us afterward.
1. The LSU-Oregon game.. That was a close game that came off the hinges when the true freshman started fumbling all over the place. I've watched the replay of that game and again, it's one of those that gets re-written in time. Watch it again, that was the key to the game. It changed what Oregon had to do and handed 3 scores to LSU (a team that struggles to gain 3 first downs). Last night, Stanford played Santa Claus... They controlled the line of scrimmage on both sides. Let's not get too far ahead of ourselves. I'd take our Irish team against pretty much anyone in America (how do we have 3 losses again?) still, I don't like our chances against Stanford. 2. I was telling you about Tubberville when he was at Auburn.. I'm telling ya now.. So long as you aren't in the top 5, you can beat him badly. 3. Boise won't get in the BCS again.. They'd win the BCS and more than half of the BCS conferences but they won't win the MWC and they won't go to the BCS. 4. You could be a UCLA fan.. 5. KState has heart and the Aggies are looking for theirs. It's as simple as that. 6. I watched that game. Wazzu's young QB looked great and Arizona State did not seem to like playing in the ice, rain, snow, whatever the hell it was falling in Pullman. 7. The Big1G similar to the Pac12.. some teams getting better, some going backward.. 8. The ACC is shitty. 9. It's Bedlam for the whole thing. Nothing else matters. 10. We're frustrating. 11. Poor Houston. 12. I've heard 2 sides to the legend of JoePa all these years. There are those who believe he is a saint... There are those (a small number) who believed he was a manipulative, power hungry, back stabbing, lying piece of sh*t.... I always take that 'I wasn't there, I don't know until i've seen the evidence' approach, but right now.. the evidence doesn't speak well for JoePa.
1. Oregon is good, but LSU is better. The 12Pac's best matchup would have been Stanford/Alabama. BTW- what happens if Georgia or South Carolina win the SEC? Does that put Okie State in the BCS Championship against Oregon? 2. Okie State had better hope that Oklahoma beats them. I just can't see them beating LSU. 3. Boise is a good team that will clobber someone in a bowl game. 4. Like California, Texas has QBs playing in every state. There's been some poor evaluations done by the UT staff. 5. Before the season I said that Texas A&M and Notre Dame are the two teams that have no excuse. They still don't. 6. I've tried explaining the 12Pac on here this year, but I give up too. UCLA has been blown out by Utah and Arizona, but beat ASU...which hammered USC...brain on overload... 7. Big Ten...see 12Pac... 8. ACC...see Corey... 9. Okie effing State... 10. Irish...see Texas A&M... 11. Houston...who? 12. Penn State... Gerry Sandusky has been at that school since he arrived as a freshman football player in 1961. Everybody knew everything. - BTW Some have compared this to the problem in the Catholic Church, but this doesn't compute. Sandusky is a true pedophile: he's sexually attracted to young children under the age of 13. There are almost no cases of this in the Catholic Church: less than 2%. The Church has a homosexual problem which is a little different... - BTW, BTW Pedophilia usually begins at age 16. Sandusky was 18 when he arrived at Penn State...
I just saw that Texas has opened at a 10 point favorite over Kansas State, I have no idea what the odds makers are smokin. It is a Texas home game so we have that, I could see us being a very slight favorite or a slight underdog as our defense has been playing well. But 10 point favorite I can't see that right now.
Wow, odd... that has to be Texas money backing that.. If I were a gambling man, I'd take that action all day. I personally think KState is going to beat you.
13. Florida goes to down to South Carolina in a fairly close contest and therefore the Gators seal their Gator Bowl bid vs. a Big Ten opponent with an equally unimpressive season.....probably Ohio State. 8) http://espn.go.com/college-football/bowls And the Cap One is reserved for a Big Ten-SEC match-up.....I think you mean Champs Sports Bowl in Orlando for the Irish.
