What a day! Jose Fernandez killed in Miami to wash grief all over the locker room here. The Dodgers wanted him very much, but the price was just too high. He had a lot of friends here too and he had just turned 24 with a new baby on the way... The Dodger Stadium goodbye to Vin Scully was unforgettable. Each player who came to the plate in the early innings tipped his cap to El Supremo in the press box; and he kept a running tab of the of the Padres-Frisco game down south with a pitch-by-pitch report. Corey Seager tied the game with a triple in the 7th; then tied it again with two outs in the 9th with a massive HR. With two out in the bottom of the 10th, Charlie Culberson hit his ONLY HR of the season for the Dodgers to win the West on a walk-off HR and send Vinny into retirement with one more memory. A lot of tears in SoCal tonight...
Even that Hollywood script send off didn't quite capture how special El Supremo is to us all.. but damn it, they tried and came real close.
