A young man in trouble? I guess the weight of trying to succeed in the NFL is starting to get to him. I didn't see his supposed refusal to go back in the game this weekend, but that has to be really worrisome for the Titans. Then he disappears in a state that alarmed his mother so much that she called Titans coach Jeff Fisher and the he called in the Police to look for Vince. Maybe this knee sprain will come as a blessing to Vince, give him a few weeks to get his mind straight. I'm sure it's tough to endure the fans boos when you are so used to everybody cheering for you, but that's the way it is in Pro Sports. Both USA Today and the Houston Chronicle have articles on this situation. Given how Mario Williams has developed, you would have to say the Texans dodged a bullet when they decided to pass on Vince. His style was great for college ball and he was the best college player on the planet his last 2 years. But his style is not good for the NFL and they don't seem to be able to develope him as a drop back QB. I wonder why they haven't used the offense that Michael Vick ran at Atlanta? Terry
I read about that Terry, I hope the young man gets his mind straight. I read an article in a magazine before the season started where the writer siad the Tennessee should let Young be Young and quit trying to make him a drop back passer. Only problem with that is that it could shorten his career. Actually it's this kind of thing that keeps the college game way out front of the pros for me. You can have a Vince Young and a Tim Tebow in college and enjoy them. In the pros it isn't going to work as well. As I said I hope the young man gets, or keeps, his head straight.
I was at that game, honestly just about everyone thinks he needs to be benched. I was sitting on the field behind the jags if you caught the pregame I was doing the color guard. woohoo. The way I look at it Young is an option QB in which in the NFL the option is rarely ever ran. I think that the offensive scheme should be mixed up a lil bit to accomidate what he can do as a player not just a QB. I would rotate Young and Collins in and out. keep the Def guessing ya know. but what do i know right. This was said to me the other day at the game. Vince young runs like a deer and throws like one too.
Vince Young. like many other successful QB's in college, find the NFL an entirely different game. Time will tell if he has the traits and patience to be an NFL player. Don
