http://www.usafootball.com/articles/displayArticle/6896 I would say a proper a$$-kicking. Take that Frenchy......take a look at the stats if you want a real giggle.
I see the star RB is headed for Va.Tech, I'm sure all of those kids are headed for a college program somewhere. I have to say though that I'd just as soon Notre Dame and Texas kids aren't playing. No real prestige, lots of chance of injury, you can only play so much football and they have the 7x7 drills that all schools do (voluntarily of course) and then camp in August. I'd rather they be in summer school at ND and Texas and not on TeamUSA.
We have a couple of kids playing. Tressel is in a tough spot.....international games held in Ohio, head coach and several others on the staff are influential Ohio high school coaches and the kids do have an opportunity to play for their country - an honor that they are unlikely to have again in their lifetime......I think we as a nation believe that is a good and honorable thing. At least I know I do.....I want our talented kids to represent their country when asked..... but your points are well taken. There is an element of risk involved.....
I certainly could see that it wouldn't be wise for any college coach to oppose his guys playing for their country. I guess anytime you can put on the Red/White/Blue for your country in a competition it's an honor that is hard to refuse. Buttttttttt as a Texas and/or ND fan I'm not quite as excited.
I understand completely.....I think Tressel was in a much more difficult spot considering the promoters, the location, the coaching staffs, the Ohio football legacy, etc. Imho, it would have quite foolish for him to turn them away and frankly I'm amazed we only have 2 kids on the squad.....surely a compromise was worked out.
