Man..too bad ole TB can't comment on this one. I'm sure he would have something to say and he would try to refute the irrefutable.... "He was beat up, more so than anybody will ever know because he won't tell you," Meyer said. "If you watch that [Georgia] game, he didn't play like Tim." http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=3415297 More from the article.... A renowned doodler, Meyer clearly will have a few more options this fall when he's going through his pregame ritual of drawing up plays for his best offensive players. "Think about how far it's come," Meyer said. "We always list our playmakers, and I do it about two hours before every game, sitting in the hotel room. I've done it for seven years. You list your playmakers and who you want to touch the ball. There were times when the playmaker list stopped at about two or three. "Now, it's going up toward six, seven, eight or nine, which is a good sign." A good sign indeed for us Gator fans.....
No doubt it's a good thing for Tebows career. Unlike Vince Young who only occassionally ran over you (though he's likely bigger and stronger than Tim) but mostly around you and away from you, gracefully juking you out of your jock strap as he cruised by you like you were a Michigan LB stuck in the mud. Tim has to batter you down, he does that for a few more years he'll be beat up and maybe never reach his full potential as a QB with a great NFL future.
Tebow is said to be able to bench press 400 lbs. I doubt seriously Vince Young has ever done that. In fact his draft bio says he benches only 225 lbs... http://www.qisports.com/vinceyoung2006.html
Show me the money!! You said "It is said"...not there documented proof that he indeed presses 400lbs. Besides the draft bio only mentions 225lbs because that's what everybody is tested on for the draft. Maybe he can press 400lbs, 1x. But still as a runner you have to admit Vince was faster, more elusive and at 6'5" 230lbs a helluva a runner. Most of Tebows runs are QB draws for 10 yds, Vince would rip off a 50yder on you in an eyelash. But Vince always had a running game to compliment him, Tebow so far has not.
For 50 yarders I would take VY anyday over just about anybody including Tebow. In college football on 4th and 2 my money is on Tebow over just about anybody else. Nice find BDR....
Well when Tebow goes 34-4, capping his career with a 20 game winning streak and 2 Rose Bowl victories including the Nat'l Championship over the #1 ranked team in the country. ...let me know. But Tim's a great college QB and I do like to watch him play. At this point though he's already lost as many games as Vince did in his career. Terry
Terry, TT was a huge part of Florida's NC as a true freshman as you know and last year he became the first soph to win the Heisman. He's done alright.... 8)
Well he was on the NC team and he did score 8 or 9 TD's. Most of his passing stats for that year were against 1AA competition though. He had a better stat year last year than VY that's for sure. But still, talk to me about it when he's lead a team to a NC and gone 34-4 or better in his 3 years as a starter and run off 20 games in a row. Just to be clear, I'm not downgrading Tebow. He had an incredible year last year and very unique in the history of college football. But it was his first year as a starter, let's see what he can do this year and next year before we get too deep into he's better than Vince Young or not. For that matter wheter or not he's as good as Matt Lineart as well. Terry
wait a tic <r>just wait a second,<br/> <QUOTE><s> </e></QUOTE> The only thing I saw Michigan LBs sticking in the mud this past bowl season was Tebow.</r>
How can that be? Don't they play in the Big 10? Doesn't everybody know the Big 10 sucks? This can't be the same Big 10 also-ran team? Have they not been reading MCG's comprehensive, fair and balanced summarizations of all the news that's fit to print about college football?
I was referring to the Mich LB's who looked like they were running in molasses during the 2004 Rose Bowl.
ohhhhhhhhhhhhh <r><QUOTE><s> </e></QUOTE> oh, my bad.<br/> <br/> I thought you were talking about this one.<br/> <br/> <IMG src="http://assets.espn.go.com/photo/2008/0101/ncf_u_tebow_200.jpg"><s></e></IMG><br/> <br/> or this one <IMG src="http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x207/bowconnor/mascots/78689963.jpg"><s></e></IMG><br/> <br/> or this one <IMG src="http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x207/bowconnor/mascots/78689961.jpg"><s></e></IMG><br/> <br/> again, my bad</r>
off and on <t>I've watched a bit of it. The Pens have so much young talent, but the Wings can't be stopped.</t>
Fair enough Terry.....I'm willing to wait until the end of the next two years to see in retrospect how Tebow's career stacks up against Leinart and Young. If you watched UF last year you know the losses weren't Tebow's responsibility. Heck he led his team to 30 points in a loss to Georgia when he had an injured shoulder that limited his effectiveness completely as a runner and he had a broken hand in a shootout with Michigan in which UF scored 35 points but defensively had a terrible day. Maybe you say the injuries are part of who he is and how he is used but the hand injury was one of those freak things against the helmet of an FSU player and not because he was being overused as a runner. Hey I give Michigan credit for winning this game to be sure and that was certainly the Michigan team that was ranked #5 in the country in preseason that played in Orlando that day against a Florida team that was not up to par all season on defense. I would be more impressed with Michigan if UF had a decent defense on the field that day.
I was impressed with Michigan that day period. They came to play and played well on both sides of the ball. They played for their coach and sent him out a winner. What's not to be impressed about?
