    Nice article, MCG.

Hey WRT the nature of the article, at least Pete waited unitl after the outcome of the BCS game to write his article ....... unlike those who, before that game was played, chose to complain about Meyer politicking (I believe some even called it "whining") to get an "unworthy, undeserving team" in the BCS slot opposite an unbeatable OSU team.

...and scribes like Mitch Albom of the Detroit Free Press.....( who should stick to writing novels)....bellyache and try to CYA by suggesting in his column today that CFB is a mess...they didn't get it right....and Florida and OSU should have played on Nov. 25th so the Buckeyes would have a better chance.

What a bunch of B/S that only panders up outrageously to his reader base as perhaps the Fla writer does to his but somehow seems desperate by comparison.

To all the Florida guys and gals,
Step back enjoy it! All of the talk is just talk. You got in the game and you won convincingly. Let the others talk...that's all they have left. A man very dear to my heart said "Act like you've been there before". Enjoy the satisfaction of knowing that your team did it on the field.

Good advice Kp.....especially up here in Big Ten country.

I will say most reasonable fans around here (Detroit) have nothing but good things to say about UF's big win.

Couldn't resist this ridiculous quote from ole Mitch:

"A school like U-M has long prided itself on -- first and foremost -- winning the Big Ten. But doing that seems to require one approach, while winning a national championship requires another."

I would say...how about WINNING the Big Ten and then see what transpires for the National Championship chances of UM.....

    :D

Far be it from me to defend Mitch since I really dislike many of the things that he writes. However, there is some room for discussion about the time factor. It may have no merit but it does make you wonder.
During the course of a season, usually a team has a week to get ready for its next opponent. IF you have a bye or a weak opponent, you can probably spend a couple of weeks getting ready. In that short period of time you can add a few plays to catch your opponent by surprise.
However, if you have a month and a half to prepare, you can completely change your offense.
If one team goes into a bowl game as a big favorite, they would probably tend to continue doing what they've been doing since it's been successful. When they do that they run into an opponent who has had weeks to prepare for them.
On the other hand, the underdog looks at the game and decides that we have to change our offense to best attack that defense.
If this were true we'd probably find that the majority of time, the underdog in the BCS championship games would win.
Hey, it's nothing more than Rocky III in the real football world. Congrats to the Gators.

I would say Meyer was able to run more of his offfense not change it completely.

I am not sure how many dinged up players OSU had but UF had several on the defense and on the OL and Harvin and Wynn were both marginal heading into the game with Arkansas.

For Florida getting these guys healthy meant a whole lot but in my opinion why wouldn't the country want to see the top two teams go at it with their best players healthy.

To resolve the "to long of a lay off" issue, the +1 game should be moved up 5-7 days and .... the Big 10 should schedule through the end of November then play a conference championship game for the 1st Saturday in December.

Did OSU and Michigan not know there would be a 51-day layoff between their final game and the BCS +1 game after adding the 13th game to their 2006 schedule? BTW, who was OSU's 13th opponent?

    Thanks.

In looking at the Big-10 schedule it looks like most (if not all) teams ended their seasons on 11/18/06. I guess it was that final week which "did" OSU in as PSU and Wisconsin were able to win their bowl games after 44-day lay offs.

I don't believe that the layoff had anything to do with that performance.

Florida was hands down the better team.

Ohio State was not ready to play, though, and I'm not sure why...it certainly would seem to one of the few times for a Tressel coached team...

but I think trying to figure out the reasons in a public forum is just making excuses.

I did wonder Stu why Tressel had no answers...no adjustments for the second half.

UF actually won the second half 7-0 and that really surprised me.

All in all a very bad night for OSU and a very good night for Fla.

I'll try and remember this great night for Florida to counter the next time someone hands our asses to us like Bama did last year.

Gators...come on show some class. You got the title, a big win, nobody is saying that you didn't win fair and square, that you weren't the best team. Let it go.

Last year OSU pulverized the Irish, OSU guys here didn't spend the next couple of weeks tapdancing on our carcases.

So you took some gas from the press, you got your revenege on the field.

Let it go, enjoy the win.

And they violated Skybox Big 10 Fan Forum Rule 14 subpart d(a) ii by their excessive politeness. The aforementioned rule reads as follows:

If the school of a B10 forum member beats Notre Dame in a football, basketball or hockey game, further postings between said member and Notre Dame posters about said game shall be based on the following motto: stick it in and break it off

Let me remember Terry one of the Skybox rules that I have so clearly forgotten and that is do not under any circumstances try to have a civil, genuine football discussion with fellow skyboxers whose team your team has beaten or with anyone else whose team did not win their bowl game.

Even if it was the most important game of the year.

    Got it.

As soon as Florida loses another game I am sure that then it will OK to discuss football as a Florida fan again.

FYI Terry....."it" was only one week ago tonight.

I assume if ND beats somebody in a bowl game next year then by say about 5 days later we will not see another topic on ND football posted by you guys for the rest of the spring?
