Ahhhh, it does me good to hear such talk...Its so great to have a Coach that knows what to do with alumni and future prospects.... http://miami.247sports.com/Bolt/Romb...-Camp-46299398 https://youtu.be/b-FOSDHS99Y According to former UM offensive lineman Brett Romberg, who worked the camp, an in-state rival was not pleased with the star power the Hurricanes had at Paradise Camp. Romberg shared on the Zaslow, Romberg, and Amber Show on 790 The Ticket that the day of the camp, the Florida football program tried to turn UM in for violations. According to Romberg, Florida called the NCAA 20 times on Saturday. Romberg explained the situation on the show: “The issue is that Florida deemed it an unfair advantage and they were trying to get us on a technicality of doing background checks. Everybody who participated in this camp had to have a background check. If you didn’t do the background check, you weren’t able to coach. A background check would allow you to interact with the kids on a coaching level. If you do not have your background check, you are considered a speaker. You are allowed to speak, but you aren’t allowed to have interaction and give tips to the kids…They were crying because we are stealing recruits.” Prior to the camp, Mark Richt took to Twitter to confirm the following former players that were able to coach the prospects: Brett Romberg, Jeremy Shockey, Phillip Buchanon, and Antrel Rolle. Richt appears to have indicated other schools were upset as he walked with former Hurricanes linebacker Ray Lewis prior to Saturday's Paradise camp. Romberg also claimed Florida was trying to send NCAA investigators to the camp.
Kp, I have no verification how he would know about the calls from UF other than he was one of the coaches involved with the camp and was privy to what was going on. Since he went on both the radio and newsprint telling his story none involved in the camp or UF has denied the allegations so I would lean towards it being factual...
It's recruiting at the end of the day with South Florida being a hotbed of talent, I'm sure seeing NFL stars parading around your competitors camp would raise a few hackles....
Ralph, Is it true that with all that talent in South Florida, the rules of the Boosters has changed? Now in lieu of money to entice recruits, it all about Citrus growers and orange juice?
I still think all these satellite camps run by and staffed by schools are a step in the wrong direction. Schools should run camps on their campus, period.
LOL....Now Don you already know we can't sell Buckeyes, Buick's or Tattoos, that's already been done in college football for boosters...We had to go to the local available merchandise.. Terry, this was held on campus, unless those palm trees in the video were from Bermuda...
Didn't watch the video. So if it was on the UM campus, staffed by UM people, I don't get the beef myself. That's the way things should be done. I'm sure UF has an on campus camp, even ND has one. They are important recruiting tools.
I can even see regional camps as being an overall positive. I don't understand why UF would be so upset either. On campus camps are held everywhere.
No biggee, I'm the worlds worst for this... I don't know why UF was ("if the report was true") so upset over this camp. Who knows the schematics involved in what the recruiting wars are at the moment.. I give the Gators hell as they will always be the in-state rival to me, meanwhile I just put my son thru another semester at the University of Florida and appreciate the Land Grant University of the State of Florida... But not no but hell no am I doing the Chomp....
