Now on the surface that seems shocking, even given the budget problems in the peoples republic of California.

But it turns out that only raises the cost to 10K/year. Sheet man it cost's that much or more to go to Texas or Texas A&M. I can't believe how low the tuition must have been at UC, UCLA, etc.
Maybe Corey can give me some perspective on this.

At some point in the very near future I expect the state of Michigan to have a similar meltdown. With a devastated manufacturing base I cannot even imagine the depth of the budget deficits to follow.

I'm sure it's gonna get real ugly there.

The sad part is our governor insists in spending as much as she can on education (for our kids don't you know?) I'm sure it has nothing to do with the massive support she and her party get from the state teacher's union. What I wonder about is why other states aren't kicking in. After all, our grads are all moving to other states for employment. You'd think that these states would help educate their future citizens. :(

New Jersey is one of the five states in imminent danger of collapse and our teachers unions are like mob shylocks. They still strike.... they still get regular raises each year....many make six figures or more..... we have six hundred school districts in a small state and we lead the United States in the the highest property taxes.

600 school districts crammed into that geography? Holy cow!

Indiana has around 300 school districts, and the governor thinks it's too many.

    Terry,

California has long been proud of their ability to provide affordable secondary education. I can't believe they haven't raised the prices. Honestly, it was that much years ago.. but they are having to admit that to pay for their massive education/union debt, their going to have to start raising prices on the students.

That teacher's union runs that state (as they do most states actually) because they can hide behind our own children...

These are the same liberal shits that think nothing of calling for higher taxes on upper income folks. But when their ox is being gored.....
