Can you say horse whupping at your house? Butch Davis is proving that, while he's not a great pro coach, he still has the touch for college football. That was a very good performance by UNC, they ran and passed the ball very well. Greg Little who was an Irish verbal before Davis convinced him to stay home looked great at RB. That UNC defense while young and no doubt looked better than they really are due to the pathetic RU offense, still looks like it has a lot of potential.

RU is just terrible this year though. The only thing that will save them is playing BE teams.

RU had lots of execution errors.
Plays were there to be made, and they just couldn't make them.

Butch Davis might make things interesting in the ACC.

I guess RU won't have to worry about Schiano leaving after this season. They've made two average (at best) football teams look great. This team will be lucky to win five games this year.

    Considering...

<t>The program he built at Miami there was never a doubt he would get Carolina back. Hated to watch Greg Little run for them last night after he committed to ND and backed out. Oh well.</t>

I think Butch Davis will turn UNC into a perennial power if he stays on there for a few years. Miami looks like they're improving but every other program in the ACC seems to be headed downhill or staying where they are (which isn't a good thing).

He has a window that Mack Brown didn't have. When Mack was there he built them into a very good program. Macks last couple of teams were top 10, but he couldn't get past FSU, Bowden still had a great staff and ruled in recruiting, even more so than Mack.

Now with FSU down and no longer the recruiting juggernaut that they once were he has a chance to get on top of things and be one of the best programs in the ACC.

Butch is one of the better recruiters in the country and no doubt he will bring NC into the college football elite. It was a shame he left Miami at the time that it was just starting to peak..

I like Butch and the discipline he brought to Miami but I have always thought that his coaching was not as great as his recruiting. I remember him running left tackle dives four times in a row trying to get one yard and losing the ball on downs....THREE DIFFERENT TIMES IN ONE GAME!!!!

    Corey,
This is one example of the genius coach who really only has a single exceptional class.

I'm not sure I understand that "one class" think kp. Miami lived on the talent he brought in for his last two years as coach and then several more under Coker. He brought a lot of talent to Miami.

I agree with ReCane that he may not be the best game day coach but he sure did bring Miami back to to being a very good team.
