Pelini Unsatisfied with Huskers' Wednesday Practice Coach cites 'too many mental errors' by Samuel McKewon September 24, 2008 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Bo Pelini was not pleased with Wednesday's practice. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- It’s a good thing it’s not Saturday for Nebraska’s football team, as head coach Bo Pelini called the Huskers’ two-hour workout Wednesday “average at best.” “We’ve got a lot to get fixed,” Pelini said. “We weren’t good enough to beat Virginia Tech today, but it’s only Wednesday.” Effort wasn’t the problem, Pelini said. Rather, the issue was “too many mental mistakes.” “We want perfection,” he said. “It wasn’t there today.” Pelini declared Nebraska relatively healthy for the game against the Hokies. Starting fullback Thomas Lawson, recovering from appendix surgery, is still “day-to-day.” If Lawson can’t go, NU will likely use a tight end in that position, Pelini said, like it did against New Mexico State.
Did you see the article on ESPN on the relationship between Dr. Tom and Bo? It was a pretty good read, esp if you are a Husker Fan.
I did Doc. I said from the begining that whoever was coach was going to have a benefit from having Dr. Tom as the AD. Osborne was never a genius as a football coach on X's and O's. It was always the process with Osborne. Getting everything into place and making sure it's well oiled, then good things are gonna come. They did, and we're just a few years away from seeing it again. Callahan never had the common sense to tap into what Tom could offer. Bo knew that from the last time, and hasn't forgotten it.
