...in 2013 basketball recruiting according to ESPN. I was away on vacation and completely missed this: http://insider.espn.go.com/college-sports/basketball/recruiting/classrankings?&action=login&appRedirect=http%3a%2f%2finsider.espn.go.com%2fncb%2frecruiting%2fclassrankings ...... cool. 8)
Intersting that the Irish are in the ESPN top 10, not a place that they usually find themselves in basketball. Not that we don't get good players, but we don't ever get a one and done player and never will, but you need that type of player to be ranked in basketball recruiting. Gators have been kind of quiet since Billy D's back to back NC's and his short lived jump to the NBA. Has it been recruiting misses, injuries, what?
Terry, the Gators made the elite 8 the last two years and had a double digit lead late before losing both games. The two years prior we missed the NCAA and were in the NIT, going deep both times but not winning. So in the 4 years since Billy fortunately decided to stay at Florida we missed 2 NCAA's and made the Elite 8 twice. Not to shabby but I am looking forward to making the Final 4 again. But with Calapari at Kentucky it's going to be difficult to get by him with his emphasis on one and domes getting him top talent every year.
You beat me to it Bill...... two elite 8s in back to back seasons ain't too shabby indeed in NCAA BB. With regard to one-and-dones......losing Beal after one season does hurt but the back to back NC teams in '06-'07 speaks loudly about Billy's ability to hold a team together....if they are so inclined.
The thought just struck me that NCAA BB teams can be evaluated by how far they advanced or if they even made the NCAA Tourney. Will football generate the same kind of evaluation....i.e......."well at least they made the 4 team playoff!
