Anyone see that move by Pete Carroll to throw the bomb (TD) with less than a minute left, and the game decided? Apparently, he did it because UCLA had just called a TO on defense. I don't see why UCLA called a TO, but to me it doesn't justify what USC did...not a good move. (just my opinion, Trojan fans! )
Does my memory fail me or did Lou once do that when navy kept calling TOs when ND was trying to run out the clock.
Gip, your memory is accurate. I can't remember the details or exactly when it happened, but I remember it. As I recall, the Navy coach at the time was a Harbaugh-type character, whiny and obnoxious. Can't recall his name.
I remember it as well. Lou was trying to run out the clock, Navy down by about 4 td's or more, and Navy called a timeout. Lou was incredulous, he couldn't believe it. Lou had his QB throw the ball and it went for a TD, he took a lot of heat for trying to "run up the score". If you remember a PSU fan named Curtis who used to post on Prodigy and here, he was always pointing to that play when ever JoePa ran up the score and somebody pointed it out to him.
Bush moves all the way around and it almost resulted in a brawl. There is a decorum to these things and they all violated it. Rick should have let them run the clock. If he burns the TO, then the proper response to this is to just run the offense and burn the clock legitimately. Instead, Peetey went for the TD. I watched the game. They hadn't been attacking deep all night, especially with UCLA's safeties. They did that intentionally knowing they'd get a good shot at a TD. Then, after the TD, the Poodle did some ******** dance out on the field that got the SC players dancing out on the field... which led to the UCLA bench coming out onto the field. Just bush league all the way around.
