Seems like that was the problem for him at Auburn right? Didn't he hire and fire about 3 OCoord in the last couple of years. Including IrishCorey favorite Al Borges?

Corey probably has the best information on Tuberville

Tubbs had certain coaches who were clearly his favorites. It isn't hard to spot them as they never left him. Some of them were even coordinators who got 'demoted' but not fired...

The problem was those lazy POS coaches wouldn't do anything.. They'd 'leak' stories about kids, new assistants and parents to the media.

Auburn had some great coaches get in, and get the eff outta town (your DC is one of them).. the real smart guys get out of there.. the idiots bought into Tubbs and his 'family image'.

The problem was, they'd never let you in the family. Guys like Al Borges moved his whole operation down there. His wife took a job at the University. I believe the guy still lives there although I haven't checked in a while.

The real litmus test will be Hugh Nall. If he gets hired, it's same old Tubbs. If not.. then maybe he learned something talking to all those old unemployed coaches at ESPN.

    They ...

<t>Wanted Art Briles as they contacted him two days after pulling the plug on the Leach. Art is from West Texas and has one no buyout clause in his contract with Baylor and that is for Tech but declined as he knows he mess that is there and yet to come plus the Baylor AD has given him all he has asked for more so he is not going anywhere.<br/>
Not a Tubbs fan here so I see a declining program from the Leach.</t>

I'm interested to see what Tubberville will do with the offense now that the pirate captain is gone.

Sure the spread isn't new anymore, but Leach brewed up the Lubbock version, and taught the QB's as well (I think).

One thing is for sure... watching those OL learn to run block will be like a trip to the Improv... HILARIOUS!

It certainly will be interesting. Most defensive minded coaches like Tubberville don't really like an offense that scores quickly all the time, the like one that grinds the opposition defense and the scores out.

I found it interesting that amongst the things he agreed to was that he wouldn't insist on bringing in his own staff and that he'll keep the offense as is, along with his lack of a buyout I guess that was what the Tech people wanted to hear. I did read though that he make a few tweaks to the defense.

Personally I find it hard to believe he'll change his stripes. But who knows what a season off has done to him.

one thing Tubbs did at Auburn was dump every scholarship kid that didn't fit into his future scheme. Not that you can really fault a guy for that I suppose in this 'dog eat dog' business, but I personally take issue with ditching kids who choose your school... stayed committed thru the tough times and then you bounce them out without giving them much of a look.

I wonder if he'll do the same at Tech.... Those guys who bitched about the Pirate seem to forget the Pirate wanted them.. With the Pirate, they were on the team.. Tubbs just might show em the door if he can find a JUCO replacement to take their spot.

Its a bit late in the day recruiting wise so we might not see it this year, but next year... I'd say it's a possibility. People forget that these aren't "four year rides", they are renewed annually.

Interesting Corey, Dennis Dodd says that Tubbs should get rid of Adam Craig right away.

    Advice From Dodd

I think that's a move that Ray Charles could see coming wearing a ski mask backwards.

Wasn't James transferring? I don't follow it that closely, but I can't imagine they would be dumb enough to think he'd have a spot there or be welcomed back.

I also saw that Tubberville was going to interview for coordinators and that he's planning on interviewing or has already interviewed the current staff except for Ruffin McNeil.

If he changes OCoord then I question that he will maintain the "Air Raid" attack that Leach had in place. That will help ND maybe if Hendrix chooses UF, the Tech kid said he would consider keeping his Tech commit if the OCoord stays.

Being the O-coord at Tech was like a nipple on a boar hog... not good for much.
Leach was the force behind that offense. Without him I'd expect it to erode pretty fast.

But... if Tubbs goes with another coord he better be very knowledgeable about the Tech blocking schemes.
Teaching those losers to block instead of execute wrestling take-downs will be a tall order!
    :D

Well when he was hired one of the reasons given was that he didn't insist on hiring his own staff, leading me to believe that the Tech AD wanted somebody to come in and keep things the same, not upset the apple cart any more.

Well that didn't last long. He's pretty much fired the whole staff so he will be bringing in his boys.
