We are traveling cross country. Left Franklin on Sat May 12 for Boone NC where our granddaughter graduated from Appalachian State, after Graduation we went to Knoxville to stay with our oldest daughter for a day and a half. Then off to Katy Tx with an over night stay in Tuscaloosa Alabama. Two very busy days in Katy visiting our grandson, his lovely wife and two great grandchildren. Thursday night to Waco so my wife could visit the Fixer Upper people Silos. Busy busy place. We wanted to eat lunch at their restaurant but could find a parking place. So we continued to Oklahoma City where we stayed the night before arriving at my sisters house in Kansas City Mo for a week with my sister, her husband and seeing our three nieces and their families. Today we fly to Portland Oregon where our oldest son and his wife have moved. We will be there for nine days before returning to KC on Monday June 1. After resting a day we will return to North Carolina arriving June 7. Almost 4 weeks on the road. Now the apologies. First this trip was so fast and crowded that we were not able to plan stops to see Terry, Tom and Cindy who on our other trips to that area se have managed to have lunch with, even joined by Scott one time. Secondly I have recently selected back about 20 years when I was at my sister-in-laws house working with Ray to get Skybox set up as Prodigy was closing. Skybox has been a big part of my life since that time where I have had the pleasure of meeting over 20 of our members at one time or another and the great trip to Kansas City to a baseball game organized by AJ. However I have allowed myself to drift away over the years with Gator sites, Facebook and other things. So I am saying sorry, and when we return from Oregon I pledge to spend much more time here and return to my cyber roots so to speak. I hope that doesn't upset to many of your. Probably not much while in Portland as it will no doubt be the only time we get to spend much time in that part of the country. So with that we have to get packing to go the airport later today. Best to all.
Bill no apologies needed, I'm just glad we've gotten to meet a few times and that you and Jeannie are getting out and seeing your family all across the USA! Stop by when you have the chance, it's always a welcome visit when you do.
Bill, I echo Terry's thoughts. No apology necessary. I'm glad we got to meet in KC. I remember also meeting your sister and her husband during that trip. I especially am interested in your stop in Waco. My wife and I are fans of Chip and Joanna Gaines. Take care. Be safe in your travels.
Bill... nice note. You are the only SB member I have met in person.... almost 21 years ago at the 1997 UF-Tenn game in Gainesville at halftime I believe.... near the north end zone. Always a pleasure having you and all of these knowledgeable ( if not biased, ) Skyboxers as my online friends.
So Bill I can somewhat relate. I’m in Columbus, my oldest grandchild graduated from high school yesterday. We drove in from Lexington,KY where one of my daughters lives. The night before we were in the Atlanta area, From here we’ll spend a couple of days in western Michigan visiting friends who retired there. Then it’s on to southeast Michigan to see our old friends and neighbors. We then swing east spending the night in Erie, PA and Watertown, NY. We the visit Montreal and Quebec. Then it’s south to Saratoga Springs and Fishkill, NY. We then spent a few days visiting Commish on Long Island. I’ll get to see my mother in Brooklyn. From there it’s down to Philly for a nephew’s wedding. Then we’ll be stopping in Roanoak, Va. and then Augusta,Ga before getting home. As the old saying goes we should shoot our travel agent.
Gipper....Whew! I'm exhausted just reading your itinerary, and I haven't moved from my chair. Be safe in your travels.
The weather in Fla. has been unusually wet this month. It’s a good time to be on the road. We’ll probably go through Ft. Wayne on the way to Kzoo. I used to know someone who lived there.
Sounds like Mike will need a couple of oil changes during that road trip! Have a safe trip gip and Bill!
In Portland getting ready fo July 4th at our sons hose. As to the Silo’s in Houston, it is a very busy place, parking across the street cost $10. We spent a couple of hours there and had a good time. Nothing is cheap and the lines are pretty long but well organized. Our intention was to go to their restaurant for lunch. However when we arrived there was literally no place to park. After cruising the parking lot about three times we gave up and headed on up the road to our next stop in Oaklahoma City. Overall it was a nice experience and we left there with some presents for family.
Great to see our retired members like Bill and Mike getting out and traveling the USA to see their family. Meanwhile I'm back to work on Tues!
Bill, What in the world are you apologizing for? I have wasted so much of Ray's bandwidth and you have played a major role in making this a memorable place for ages now.. Take your trips, do your thing enjoy your life. Our dumb asses will still be here.
Getting ready to fly to London/Southampton for a 12 day British Isles cruise...then 2 days in Paris, 3 days in London...then coming back to New York on the Queen Mary 2.
