What's good for Tiger...... I tweaked the kids swing. No no, don't worry, we're willing to sacrifice some, most tourneys this year till we have the bugs worked out. I noticed while I was watching him in the basement hitting shots, that he was turning his shoulders slightly more than his hips at the top of the backswing. This causes the club to get caught behind him and turns his swing into a 2 plane swing. Aditionally, by doing this, it gets his hands and arms "scrunched up" in the backswing (to close to his back and shoulders) which reduces the size of the swing arc. I worked with him for about 30 mins, and had him understanding what I want to see is a 1 plane swing and having his hands and arms fully extended above his shoulders, clubshaft flattened out, which will give him a bigger swing arc that will generate more power and crisper shots. Classic examples of 1 plane swings are Davis Love and Ernie Els.
Keep it fun AJ. I'm sure he'll enjoy whipping your butt. The secret to the game is getting up and down.
Funny you should mention that Gipper, my plan for him this year is from green to tee, with 75% of the time on 60 yards in. :!:
Yeah when you see Tiger hitting only an occassional fairway yet having a very high greens in regulation it's clear that shot making after the drive is the key. All these long ball hitters just bomb away and don't fear the rough anymore since they are so far out their and have square grooved wedges in their hands. Terry
They'll (PGA) will get wise to it Doc, and start intervening in course setup. Technology in equip and the physical fitness of players is way over the top. That's why the U.S. Open and it's setup is my favorite. You can hit it as far as you'd like.....but it better be straight.
